If his wife found out about the "affair" on Jan 12th, why the heck didn't she go to the police or the school board?

Let's be fair. When the wife is pregnant the man has a right to find a temporary alternative.

If the incident acually happeded in January and it appears according to the girls sworn statement that it happened only once why did she wait 4 months to come forward. There is something not right with this story. These girls now are not like when I was in school, yes we thought some of our teachers were good looking but would never make an advance. Yes he is an adult that should have known better but that girl is no better. She probably saw her self as cool which I am sure her friends don't think she is all that cool now. What about the days when it was legal to marry at 15, you can't say that girls are more naive today as there is much more on television today then when we were kids. Actually you would think they would be smarter. I am not saying what he did was not wrong, but lets not think this girl was completely innocent in this situation.

Let this be a lesson..if you are over the age of 16 and have a myspace or facebook, or any of those other fruity sites, you have issues.
And you should not be surprised to find out that people who do, are wacko. Adults have no business on these teeny bopper sites.

Chester the molester showing compassion for a fellow molester having sex with young girls. Good thing this guy wasn't accused of using racial epithets. Chester would then expect life in prison.

As a young male HS teacher, I am absolutely furious at this. This is why people are suspicious of teachers. This is yet another reason why respect for education is lacking. There are too many idiots in this profession who make the rest of us hardworking, law-abiding, non-perverted educators look bad.

I hope they lock this jerk up and throw away the key. Scum like that should not be in this line of work.

Well, the media blows things out of proportion. Things are different today, than the old days. The teacher abused his right of authority on the girl. Didn't you hear the sheriff? He GROOMED the girl. Meaning, he fed her lines of bullshit so that she would think that he liked her. Teenagers are impressionable at this age, You people don't know what the girl possibly went through. Not saying she shouldn't have learned her lesson as well.. but, he should've been smarter.

Meh. 16 is the age of consent in lots of states. And if she had killed him, she would have been tried as an adult. I would agree though that it's unprofessional behavior, and he should be fired.

I think the best way to prevent these student/teacher, younger/older relationships is to punish the underage person too. The way the law is now, a underage person has nothing to lose.

She is 16. By law, she cannot consent to banging this guy/ He is a pos. and I hope he gets a long sentence. Just a shame that FL didn't give the women who committed the same crime long sentences too. My guess is the feminists choose to ignore this double standard.

The problem here is government-run schools. Never mind the background checks.

Let the men teach the boys and the women teach the girls.
