Looks like they are starting construction on the jetty pier. Anybody know what the plans are for that and when they expect it to be open again?

I would like to know if they will rebuild the camp ground at the jettys.I sure enjoyed camping there.

I know that they had started rebuilding and hurricane Ike wiped that out too..... I have heard that they are going to rebuild it. As a matter of fact, I think construction is pretty much underway. I will take a ride tomorrow and see what I can find out. I will post and let you know. Where are you from?

Looks like some major construction going on out there. From what I could see, the pier is just needing the rails. I will ask someone in the police jury office tomorrow morning when I get off work and post back for you tomorrow night when I come to work. I am hoping they do put the RV park back so I can bring my RV down in the summer. I work here 7 and 7 and stay at my job while here and I am ready for a change of scenery

I spoke with one of the deputies here and he said "Yes they are rebuilding all of it as we speak" so hopefully they will be done with it soon. Lets just hope and pray that we dont get another storm anytime soon!

Thank you so much. I can't wait till its done so I can bring my camper also. Although someone said the roads are real bad going towards cameron. I'll keep checking to see when its finished.

As far as I know, no roads are bad. They fixed the shoulders that were washed out. I will post when I find out more. Thanks and God Bless you as well

I'd l;ike to bring my camper also. I'm from Forked Island but was also wondering about Rutherford Beach and where can I go to find info to possibly purchase a lot or two from someone not rebuilding back.

LOL Good luck on that one also. Quite a few people are looking for beach property. I am going to check back with some people this morning and see if I can find anything info.

As far as the roads on the west side of the ferry, I am not really sure about. I havent been over there but once since Ike. East of the ferry tho the roads are great

Can someone tell me if LA29/82 is open from Port Arthur to Abbeville?

And how large an RV can go on the ferry at Carmeron? I have looked and can't find anything about that.

As far as I know it is open.(La82/27) A friend of our's has a daughter living in Johnson's Bayou. The shoulder are small if non-existant in some places near Holly Beach but further towards Vermilion the shoulders are being worked on. I think pretty much any camper can fit on the ferry. That would be a question for the State or Cameron Parish officials

I'm still waiting for same news or news on Rutherford Beach. One guy here works so I am assuming he'll get back in touch. I check everyday on this post. Good luck in your search. I could use a good luck charm about now myself. (lol)

tifi I havent been able to catch anybody that knows anything. I work nights and I am in bed by the time they all get here and they are gone when I get up. I would call Ernie with the Cameron Parish Planning and Development. He is a super nice guy and will help you in any way he can. If there is property for sale I am sure he knows about it. I'm sorry but I just cant seem to catch up with him. I hope this helps you. As far as the jetty pier, I havent heard anything on that either other than they are building everything back there. I havent passed thru there in a while but I have friends that have. Thay say its gonna be nice. Cant wait!

Hey thanks for the update and info. I just posted on another topic how grand of a time my autistic son had on Rutherford Beach Fri, May 22. It's not easy finding things that are fun for him and the beach and fishing seem to be the only thing. That's why I'm anxious for info. You've been a great help. Thanks again.
