When did laptops become the measure of education? If having a laptop is the measure of education, we clearly aren't educating students in grades k-8, and 11-12. Oh yeah -- and here's the kicker -- kids cannot use them, because the district didn't invest in the infrastructure to allow them to access the internet.
I agree with the anonymous poster in one aspect -- Mike Itow is an excellent choice...but to replace Joseph Chang.
Here are a few things you should know:
Rudy Chavarria has spent time as an employee of the district, and has spent time observing teachers in the district.
Joseph Chang does not observe teachers in classrooms, however, he can often be seen on campus travelling with his private video and still-photo news crew to ensure he gets the photo-op.
Anita Perez can often be seen in classrooms for photo-ops as well.
How about test-scores? Joseph Chang is fond of bragging about his multiple degrees -- if he was such an incredible board member, why wouldn't test scores in his district be through the roof? Probably because he's more interested in bragging to his friends about having his photo in the paper than actually governing anything.
I would like to see the voters do what is best for the students, and show Mrs. Perez and Dr. "Joe" Chang the door. They do not act in the best interests of the students.
One other thing -- who wrote this editorial? Didn't bother to sign your name huh? No kidding. I wouldn't want to sign my name to the lies you wrote either. You should think more of the kids than the bragging rights of your friends.
As my grand-pappy used to say "When in doubt -- vote them out"

It sounds like you have are basically rehashing what the candidates are saying and have done no actual investigation. True journalism requires verification of facts prior to publication. What you attributed to Mr. Chang, should also be attributed to all the board members, unless you can show otherwise. Rudy Chavarria has been an excellent school board member and can be credited with promoting the introduction of vocational programs and all the improvements you attribute to the other candidates. You have failed to mention Mr. Chavarria's contributions to the district, why? Your opinion concerning the candidates is based on no verified truth or investigation. Neither, do I read any reflection of what parents, teachers, and students have to say about the candidates. These are the folks on the ground who know what is happening. Since, your opinion is not based on solid journalism, I suggest you make a retraction, pending a more enlightening investigation.

are you guys kidding me...
obviously you guys are Rudy's family members, and definetly not Rudy, your writing skills are 1000% better than he could ever write.
Have any of you ever heard him at a board meeting, he makes he himself look like a fool. He doesn't understand the issues, asks redundent questions and sadly shows his lake of intelligence. Its really embarrassing for a board member to be that ignorant. Let's keep it real, Rudy was a Janitor before a board member.
All of the other current board members and the other candidates are intelligent and accomplished, they certainly did not pick up the trash at school sites.
Also, how about Rudy's lack of moral values...
he abandoned his ex-wife and children to have an affair with a school employee, got busted on campus doing the dirty, then as punk, leaves his family to move-in to the home of the other woman.
Did he ever buy his new wife a home or is he living in the home SHE paid for... for once the SGV got it, get rid of the BUM!!

Are you suggesting that all the board members are saints? Placing one's interest above those you have committed to serve is equally wrong. Have you ever heard the term, "educated fools"? Attaining a degree or multiple degree does not equate to common sense and a desire to do the best for the community. Too many of the current board members have not exhibited a dedication to the entire school body. They have allied themselves for political gain and racial preference. We need people who are unbiased and who truly represent each community in the district. By the way I am not a member of Rudy's family.
I support him because he works for all the zip codes in the district not prefered ones.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Taurus

Someone is very short-tempered, and they're liable to fly off the handle at a moment's notice. Maybe they're feeling vulnerable in some way or are desperately trying to defend what they see as their territory. Be sensitive to this and don't goad them into being even more irritable or upset than they are already. Frankly, it's just not worth it.
