If you accidently killed someone even in a fight it seems you would immediately feel a desire to help in anyway and feel remorse not burn them up.

What are you upset about? The guy got 13 years. He didn't "get away with it". They basically had no hard evidence against him and were lucky that he confessed to doing it. He could have walked away scott free if he had kept his mouth shut.
And since when did people smoking pot get 13 years for it? You pot heads are constantly trying to make everyone else feel sorry for you when the reality is that owning pot is a ticket at best. Not a jail sentence. There is nothing messed up about this country besides the people who want you to join their cause just so that they don't have to feel guily about breaking the law by smoking a joint!

He did "get away with it"

A life for a life.
How is it even remotely justice to the young woman's family?
He gets 13 years.
She's dead forever, God rest her soul.
The family probably could not even have an open casket because he decided to burn her body.
I'm with the other post.
An accident in an accident
But to burn her clearly shows that he knew he was wrong and was trying to "get away with it"

Its people who think like you that are running our justice system into the ground
There's plenty to complain about.

He only got 13 years because they basically had nothing on the guy. Read the story. Without his confession he walks free. Sure, I'd love for the guy to get life too. But read the story. The victim's family agreed to the plea deal because if they tried to get true justice out of it he may have walked completely free. If the victim's family agrees to it then I feel comfortable that this is the best they could do in this particular situation. Sometimes you have to take what you can get.

And no, I'm not "running our justice system into the ground". What's running our justice system into the ground is the non-stop FUD and political agendas that are messing with what should be standard sentencing. You have people screaming about how pot smokers are going to jail when in fact all they ever get is a simple ticket and are sent on their way. You have politicians trying to make examples out of people just to further their own cause. And you have people complaining about someone getting 13 years when the reality is that we are lucky he's in jail at all! If he had a decent lawyer he would be walking away scott free because without his confession and plea agreement they have nothing to even charge the guy with!

Let's spend our time going after those cases that deserve our attention instead of complaining about edge cases that are simply less than optimal. Justice is being done here. It's not perfect. But it's better than the possible alternative. It isn't a broken legal system. It's a system that requires proof of having committed a crime. The requirement of proof was put in place to protect innocent people from being made victims like those of the Salem Witch Trials.

So he accidently kills her and then decides to burn her body. If it was an accident you would have went to the authorities to try and get help incase she wasn't dead and you would admitt to the accidental death. You wouldn't try and cover it all up by burning her body. EYE FOR AN EYE! He deserves to die!

Did he even know she was dead when he set fire to the car? He deserves life, if not a trip to Lucasville. He'll be out in 5 years, and do this again. He would have been caught even if he had kept his mouth shut, there are too many forensic devices available to law enforcement to get away with something like this. The sentence is too light....what if this had been your daughter/sister/mother?

Normally that would seem true but its always dangerous to judge something without evidence. There can be an infinite array of things people cannot or do not consider in a situation. In a true system the truth is gotten to and the truth and facts would surely have been gotten to in this case if we had a system based on truth. The evil system we have hates and doesnt care about the truth and cons people into making judgements with halfassed stories or evidence or just plain lies. That method is what fills their pockets and makes their system a profession out of reach of the people or any logic. Murderers and criminals go free and innocent are convicted everyday. The only solution is to run out the whole bar club profession, judges, prosecutors and lawyers and remove their income from it. They only prevail by support and frustration of the people wanting them to do more. The more halfass or backwards they are the more people are screaming for more of them. The more power the people give them the less they do, not to mention that perpetuating crime is in their best financial interest.

Thirteen years. They are crazy now everyone knows you can kill someone and get away with it. Why complain stated he didn't get away with it .... he got 13 years. Think about it he is 27 when he turns 40 he will be free. To live his life what about the person he killed ... she only got to live 27 years by his choice.

At 40 he can start his life over, find love and start a family. What kind of justice is this. While he is locked away for how every long the keep him, we the tax payers will be supporting him. I really don't want to.

He killed someone. Robbed them of a long, happy life. Robbed her family, freinds. He belongs there for life, no parole, or to Lucasville & the needle. What if she was your sister? Daughter? Would you want him out at 40, so he "find love"? He needs to spend his like behind bars, and rot in hell afterwards.

That is exactly what I am trying to say. They need to do to him exactly what he had done to her. These people are getting away with murder. It needs to stop. If the can not find a vein they need to go back to the electric chair I don't care. They do not deserve to live if they take someone's life on purpose.

So I don't know how you got in my statement that I wanted him to get out at 40 to start life over. I was saying with this sentence it could be possible. Where is the justice in that. As for no parole and spend the rest of his life in prison is to easy ... plus we would have to support him until he dies naturally.

I take offense to what you wrote. NO I could not imagine if it was my sister, daughter or mother my heart goes out the hers.

Re read my post.

Why would the victim's family agree to this plea deal? Do they really believe he accidentally killed her, and then panicked when he realized what he had done, and burned her body?

Doesn't this just seem wrong to anyone?

This guy gets 13 years for killing his girlfriend and then setting her car and body on fire.

The guy they just caught that was robbing business with a shot gun( But did not actually KILL anyone) gets 20 years.

Please explain to me how this is even remotely considered justice?
How does an armed robber get more jail time than a convicted killer?
Its sickening.
We need a clean sweep of the justice system around here.
Its insane

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Gemini

Grit your teeth as Mars turns retrograde, as things annoyingly don't go to plan. Certain people are going out of their way to be difficult. Is an older relative throwing the proverbial weight around and telling you what to do? The greater the gap between your ages or social status, the more irritated you'll be.
