1 I hope they don't close, they provide the city with hundreds of jobs and its always great fun. Gurnee would lose touristic revenue and basically disappear off the map. |

1 February 26, 2009 Six Flags Great America and KeyLime Cove Announce Marketing and Sponsorship Alliance KeyLime Cove Becomes The Official Resort of Six Flags Great America Six Flags Great America and KeyLime Cove announced today a partnership making KeyLime Cove the Official Resort of Six Flags Great America. The unique partnership is designed to enhance visitor entertainment options and convenience, increase overall guest satisfaction, value and length of stay and drive additional tourism to Lake County. “This partnership will provide families with a one-stop affordable vacation option as Lake County continues to grow as a family destination,” said Six Flags Great America Park President Hank Salemi.“As two of the region's largest tourist attractions, the collaboration is a natural fit.” As the Official Resort of Six Flags Great America, KeyLime Cove will be the preferred lodging option for all Six Flags' guest inquiries. The alliance includes affordable family packages, which offer admission to the theme and water parks, accommodations at KeyLime Cove, access to the resort's indoor water park, and free shuttle service between the two attractions. “The partnership between two family-orientated destinations — a year-round, indoor water park resort and spa and a top seasonal theme park - results in a world-class family destination unparalleled in the region,” said Dale McFarland, KeyLime Cove general manager.“Guests will enjoy the best of both destinations, making the family vacation an extraordinary one.” As part of the agreement, Six Flags Great America and KeyLime Cove will collaborate on a number of co-branded marketing initiatives through multiple platforms via Six Flags Media Networks. These cross-promotional activities include in-park signage for KeyLime Cove at Six Flags; Web site presence; advertising tags; inclusion on the Six Flags radio and television networks; and a KeyLime Cove attraction sponsorship in Hurricane Harbor. |

1 You live in gurnee. How do you know the workers there are illegal ? Do you work there ? Can't wait to see your taxes go up. Take out Gurnee Mill Mall and there is no Gurnee. It's in the middle of nowhere. What other reason would one want to go to Gurnee if it wasn't for Great America or the mall ? The mall gets a lot of traffic from parents dropping of there kids at Great america. Ask the mall store owners what the think if it closes. Gurnee is a good place to drive by when you're going to Milwaukee. Take out the roller coaster and you wouldn't even know you past Gurnee. Get real |

1 WOW you must be one arrogate person. For a park as big as Six Flags and not pay taxes are you out of your damn mind? For one in this economy the government wouldn't even let them get away with it for a second! Before you talk get your fact straight! |

Gurnee Mills Mall? Best thing that could happen is the closure of that old poorly designed pile of junk? It should be torn down and a pedestrian friendly mall built. If the new mall in the old fairgrounds ever gets built I pray it's days are numbered.
As for the topic, Great America pays a 3% tax on each ticket which comes out to about $2 million in taxes paid every year. However attendance is declining and with it go the tax receipts. At the rate it's going we'll soon hit a point where the costs outweigh the tax so we'll see. But if it left, as someone that doesn't live too far from it, I wouldn't miss it, and we have season passes! People get off 94, go to the park, and leave. There is no broader contribution to area businesses other than the Speedway gas station there. |

Always loved 6Flags, but I never understood why they added the water park. I wish they would stick to amazing rollercoasters as there is an abundance of waterparks in the region (ie Wis. Dells) Maybe it made business sense for them to do that, but you'll never see me trading coasters for a swimsuit there. :)

I was coming on this site to find some "good" news about Six Flags Great America closing or not, and I happened to see your post, and all I can say is WOW!!! REALLY?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! That was relevant how?! I'll pray that you wake up realizing it's 2009 and we move into the future not the past, but if you want to live in it I dare you, probably would land you in jail, but worth a try, all those taxes your paying huh? Or better yet maybe the illegal alien taxes might bail your ignorant self out!!!! GOOD LUCK in Life and may God save you!!!! |
