It's amazing how much control a media source has over the thoughts and opinions of a legion of PC jurors that sit waiting for a poorly reported topic that they truly know nothing about but can’t wait to voice their opinions on. The paper suggests that this guy left because of this matter of students drinking at a party and the district failing back him up. First off, these kids where wrong and continue to pay the price for their mistakes. Of course the “legion” doesn’t know that so they assume discipline is nonexistent. These are good families that have teenagers trying to fit in and making teenager mistakes along the way. Not so different than any other town in the nation. The superintendent, to her credit, is actively working to bridge the gaps and create proactive disciplinary policy to help parents curb such behavior.
Now what Johnston failed to report was that prior to this matter he had already begun planning his exit strategy from the district due to a host of other problems he had created for himself, and that he acted outside of state and federal constitutional rights during his investigation of the above matter. Further complicating the issue was the manner in which the poorly thought out policy was created and introduced. These being the causes of student’s reinstatement. Good reasons to seek legal counsel if you’re a struggling principle then spin it and slide out while the smoke is thick. TJ talks smooth and angled his resignation with the “system based administrator” verbiage in his letter. The truth is this guy was a poor communicator that failed to return phone calls and emails time and time again from subordinates and parents. He created/approved policy that he chose to follow when it suited him. He used the Education Code in the same manner, only when it was best for him. Johnston also had proven himself a weak leader to the staff of EHS opting to disguise his own shortcomings with attempts at intimidation. He’s not a good fit for Esparto or any other district. Do some research folks…..his departure from other schools may have been quieter but no less celebrated. |

I see we have a problem a parent who can't read. This was my first post, and as I stated I did not know this principal, but heard things about him. I never stated that I knew the parent was on the handbook committe. How can I judge someone if I don't know them personally or had to deal with him. Take someones like you, story and believe it. You know what goes on and if you are this upset you are probably one of the parents that serves alcohol to minors.I was speaking on the drinking that does go on at these parties. Why have a handbook if parents holler loud enough their kids gets a free walk. The district is guilty of letting loud mouth parents run the schools. |

You’re contradicting yourself. You praise yourself as someone who doesn’t judge yet you judge without personally knowing. Please see my last post for factual information. |

I apologize for the comment directed to you, I can read very well and have a doctoral degree.I have read every comment on this thread. However, you need to read the entire thread before you choose your post name. An Esparto Parent from Rochester, NY (The EXACT)same name and location as you posted, has posted in #'s 147, 152, 155. I was responding to that person, which is why I said "in earlier posts". It was very coincedential that it looks like you are the same exact person writing the posts. Especially since both posts came from the other side of the country. That is the reason I responded the way I did. Please watch your post name before you post, or you will be misquoted again. I have not, do not and never will serve alcohol to minors. I am involved because I know the truth of what happened, I know the principal, I know the rights of those kids were violated. It wasn't screaming parents, it was several illegal procedures that were done that got the kids reinstated. I do know what happened and why. They didn't get a free walk. They were punished by their parents, coaches and embarrassed in front of their teammates, because they missed practices and games. They have been punished, there is no free ride for these kids. A real athletic handbook is being developed by parents, staff, and students to make sure it is fair for all. I am not an angry parent, people keep spouting off lies and that is what I do not like. Again I appologize if you did not post earlier, but you need to change your post name. |

Are you still mad about EHS knocking you out of the playoffs a couple years ago? Let it go. But I will say this - East Nick, a town smaller then Esparto, supports their high school football a hellava lot more then Esparto. The EUSD support of the high school athletic program is pathetic. |
