Do you feel that a man or woman who chose not to be a part of their child's life should be held accountable to pay child support?

Yes,I think both parents should be held equal responsible for their childs welfare.not the state or family members.

Well right now I take care of everything from basic food and clothing to insurance medical bills college fund everything by myself without the help of my family the others persons family or the state and government and I've never pursued the child support issue cause I feel that if our son isn't worthy enough for his love and affection while he has no financial responsibility to him then why should he have a right to him if he is made to be financially responsible for him. So I guess what I'm asking is if I pursue child support after over a year of him not being in his life will that open up the door for him to have visitation rights to him?

yes, it does. more times than not, if a man is having to pay for a kid, he will want to be able to use his rights. but most times a judge in a child support case will only make a judgement on that & will leave the custody or visitation up to the parents (unless that's part of the case being reviewed). my ex has had nothing to do with our daughter since before she was born but now that we're going thru the whole child support thing he's saying that he's not going to pay it unless he gets his rights to her. i hope that everything goes well & good luck!

I figured as much I'll continue to not pursue child support at least my son won't have someone in his life who doesn't really care about him. There's no money in the world that could pay for that.
