I remember my sisters and I taking all our children to the Christmas Parade. We would all ride the Harman Bus to avoid the traffic Jam. I loved that Bus. I also loved the Fairway 5&10. Mr. Boyd went all out at Christmas. There was live radio broadcast from the store. The children could visit Santa there in the store and talk on the radio to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas.
Around Christmas we would get tickets when we purchased something in Grundy. On Christmas Eve there would be a big drawing in Grundy from those tickets. They gave away 100 prizes .It was broadcast live on the radio . Had to write down all 100 ticket numbers then check your tickets to see if you won anything. The prizes were great, One of which was a car.

I remember Singletons, and the Morgan Theater where they would have Stage Shows with preformers like the Stanley Brother, Ernest Tubb, and Little Jimmy Dickens. This was in the 50's & 60's. In the 60;s they would have a Live Band on Sat. night. We really had some good, wild times at the Morgan Theater.I can remember being in Paul,s Restaurant around lunch time and all the Lawyers sitting around a table in the middle of the floor Having Lunch together. They were all very nice and friendly. They would speak and have a little small talk with other people who were sitting near by.

The cheery cokes WERE great at the Lynwood! I remember taking my son to the Ben Franklin and getting ducks and fish and other pets and the great burgers they had at "the Rexall?" and the street dances, the Christmas parades were better, people were more caring because they didn't have all this financial worry, I remember all the people on the streets and how the town was booming, I remember the buses and taxi service.... where did it go?

The place to the left side of the Morgan theater was a drug store.Ithink it was called Grundy Drug.It was owned by the Morgans. When the Drug store closed it was then Bill Rameys store. Think it was called Rameys furniture. He use to have Bob Smallwood in there every Morning broadcasting live, selling stuff. First that I ever heard about a Kerosene Heater .
