Groveton,NH seize the opportunity to create a new industry. They should create a "state of the art" lumber processing facility. Every day we see trucks heading to Canada with logs, while at the same time, you see trucks heading south with finished lumber on I-91. What is wrong with this picture??
I believe a facility could be created to process logs into all types of lumber. ie.all types of finished lumber, plywood, chip board and even wood pellets. With the price of fuel going up, I believe this to be more feasible by the day. All the waste could be made into pellets for heating.
You would have a town still based on wood, and you would still be using the same businesses that supported the paper industry, that is, trucking and logging. A processing facility like they have in Canada would do the trick!
