Family: Raise driving age so juveniles can't drive

“Campaigning to change the laws to ensure only responsible adults can drive a motor vehicle is how we can help prevent another family from feeling our pain, sadness and profound loss.”

Brian Wu was rollerblading when he was struck April 29 by David Broom, of Berlin, who was speeding at 50 to 60 mph, trying to go airborne on a dare by another teenager, police said. via The Citizen

i was friends with the 16 year old that hit brian. i feel that he was stupid for doing what he did but ultimitly he didnt mean to hit brian on purpose. I know it is horrible for the family but it has also affected my friends family too. it doesnt make it right or ok but people make mistakes. it has nothing to do with age. a 30 year old could have hit that boy. This inncodent has nothing to do with the driving age. it is peoples maturity but like i said someone 30 could be just as immature as my friend was that day. The age should remain 16.

I am related to David, the kid who was driving. His whole life has been affected by this accident. He has become withdrawn and depressed. It is as if he died in that crash as well. He is a good kid who unfortunately made a huge mistake. But you tell me who in this world, as a teenager, didn't do something stupid on a dare. No many - the only difference is they didn't get caught and no one got hurt.

I don't think they should raise the driving age to 18. I think it should be raised to 25 just like drinking should not be allowed for anyone under the age of 25. This age coincides with insurance companies rate for drivers being lowered at age 26. Think about how much money would be saved for insurance premiums. Much less accidents on the road and just safer in general for everybody. I don't care about the 16 year olds who wouldn't be able to drive. Boo frickin hoo. Maybe all of the peer pressure from other 16 year olds would encourage KIDS and I stress KIDS not to make these idiotic decisions. So yeah drinking age 25, driving age 25. And if anyone wants to argue about the drinking age being lowered for military, I myself am in the military and I know from experience that I was highly immature when I first came in. Even when I was allowed to drink under 21 in foreign countries, I drank in excess as did many others. So that is a useless, idiotic, and needless agreement. And to be honest, the voting age should be raised as well to 25. Oh and if you don't work, you can't vote. No more welfare votes. I'm frickin sick of it.

I can see possibly raising the driving age to 18 but 25? Come on now that is ridiculous.
