The parish administrator for West Feliciana is paid $105,000 per year. The former director of economic development's salary for West Feliciana was $80,000 per year. So, are you suggesting a parish President should make $185,000 per year? Looks like Bello and Byrd are a tremendous bargain! Why change?

Jarreau89, Did you read yesterday's Advocate....Metro section, page 9B? Don't be Rob's pawn. He is merely using you and others for his gain. How well do you really know this man? Take it from those of us who do. And for those that know this man, I need not say another word. Sorry....after reading today's paper...no way that I can vote for HRC at this time.......and just think.....he had you and others thinking it was ya'lls idea. Yes, he is slick.....but not slick enough. In the meantime, why not throw your name in the hat for the jury seat...just don't take any of his contributions if you do decide to run. You've had good ideas in the past about certain parish issues....you can be a part of change in the parish without doing Marrionneaux's leg work for him. Good luck....hope you do decide to run!

Yes, I did read yesterday's article. Consider the fact that Koran Addo did not attend any of the town hall meetings or any of the PPC meetings yet he states with authority that this entire movement is "mainly the result of Marionneaux's efforts." Since when did the media become the absolute purveyor of the truth? Where did he get his information from? The only acrimony that I have witnessed has been on the part of the Police Jury members that have chosen not to allow the people to vote. No, I don't consider myself to be a pawn for Marionneaux. I have been of the opinion long before I got involved with PPC, that this form of government needed to be considered by the people of Pointe Coupee. I have based my opinion on my first hand experiences with the Jury and my research into what this form of government offers to the citizens of the parish. And you have based your opinion on your beliefs. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this subject. And, as I have stated before, I have way too many skeletons in my closet to even consider a run for public office - ;-) But, be assured, I exercise my rights every time the polls open.

If they don't pass the resolution to form the committee we are already working on the alternate method in order to move this forward. And, actually, I prefer the petition route because at that point the citizens elect the commission rather than the Jury appointing the commission..... We have explained our position on more than one occasion to the Jury - guess they thought we would just go away - well guess what.......

Im proud of you and your groups resolve, says volumes of your character and goal. I'm sure the jury did not think that "this" would go away. I dont feel that MOST of them are that shallow minded. It is imperitive that you and your groups representatives are at this meeting on May 10, 2011. You and Steven will have the task of voicing and or fighting for this cause if need be. I shall too be in attendance, if you can find me, I shall find you. I have never OFFICIALLY taken a side in this, just the side of freedoms that we are granted as citizens of this crumbling country. I support knowledge, thruth and facts. I do beleive in the right to "Vica voce" and that elected personnell should represent the people and allow the people thier choice, whatever that may be. The laws that govern should never be biased of favor any one person and or intity over the other. NO MATTER HOW SMALL. I belive that the system in PC is old. Its from another time and it must adapt or die. I belive that PC is TOO scared of change because they have been run this way for too long. It is my opinion only, and I do stand by it. I Sincerely remain,

I Sincerely remain, Will I am an advocate of the HRC form of government, I have been even more motivated to fight for this proposal due to the Jury's inability to make a decision - right, wrong or indifferent. You see, I also believe that the people (no matter the size of the group) have the right to fair representation. Adaptation to our ever changing society is paramount to success. The utilization of the talents of the citizens in this parish are all too often overlooked and even scoffed at by our leadership. What a shame. New ideas and suggestions are all too often not even put on the table for consideration because "we've been doing it this way for over 200 years." Well, that just doesn't work any more and we have to progress or be left behind. And sadly, we're being left behind. We need visionaries leading in this parish, we need to be proactive rather than reactive and ALL the people in this parish should have a voice. Not just the select few! At this point I have no idea how the Jury will vote on May 10th. But, it will be interesting and I'll be there.

Yes, Rob, that IS the way it should be. Why don't you practice what you preach? do you honestly.. think that ... it would come to you that easily...I AM NOT AN ELECTED OFFICIAL... NOR AM I A POWERFUL CONSTITUANT.. I am a citizen, whom can read, write and ponder this delima.. and You? Are you confused yet? Are you tired of this..? Would you rather me give you endless stats that are all true? How about we just agree to ... vote on it? That is the democratic way, RIGHT? or..., are you scared of the turn out? you see, the turn out... of each election.. is the real key.... Hustle, bustle, and BUY.. thats the name of the game.... call me when your really ready.......

Especially now "the change" should take a back seat to the emergency we now face with the Mississippi! I don't understand however why the two will not meet....why shouldn't they still "meet" even though their issue is not going to be on the agenda....with the flooding issue at hand, why would they NOT attend the meeting? Seems to me it would be a good time to witness the jury in action.

Seems to me it would be a good time to witness the jury in action. In my comment above I was referencing meeting a Topix poster. The jury is still holding their regularly scheduled meeting. But, there is nothing on the agenda regarding "the emergency we now face." And, I have attended many jury meetings so I have witnessed them in action. And, Progress Pointe Coupee was present at every Town Hall meeting recently held by the jury so, in essence, we have met numerous times and presented our point of view.

I'm against it. Baton Rouge has this form of government, and looked at how screwed up it is.
