What the hell is the county thinking? A portable building at the lake for the emt. It will cost $20,000 for the building and god knows what to furnish it and utilities. I thought the county was in bad shape financially. They couldn't give the employees a raise this year but ole Tommy(cowboy hat) Rogers got a $20,000 portable building for the lake. What about the rest of the county? Do they get a $20,000 portable building with an emt too? Seems to me that the only thing Tommy Boy is concerned with is "The Lake" and not the rest of the county.

if u would have looked at the meeting u could see him lying to everyone unless our sheriff lied .about the building .. tommy stated that the sheriff wanted it to and two deputies could be in one half.. everyone voted for tommy and the sheriff and look how they lie.

To "Looking": The building is being purchased with SPLOST funds which cannot be used for employee salaries. Thus, purchase of the building has nothing to do with no raise for county employees. The building will have offices for an EMT and a Sheriff's Deputy to use as a base of operations in the Lake area. These life and property protection services are critical for remotely located citizens. Be reminded that the Lake area provides about 40% of the county's tax base but gets no where near that much in county services. Rightfully, Rogers should be getting more for the Lake. I'll speak to him about it.

To "justthinking": The EMS trailer was the first option considered. However, I believe it was discounted because it was in such disrepair that it would have cost more to rehab and move it than a new building would cost.

Boy Tommy sure twists your thong tight doesnt he? If ya dont like him, run against him. Campaign against him. I for one like Tommy a lot. He has always been very helpful to me and my family, and we are nobodies here in these parts. Just makes me wonder.

To "local wire": I was at the meeting. Cite one example where Tommy Rogers "lied". The Sheriff did not say there would be two deputies in the building. He indicated one deputy would use the office sparingly because the Sheriff wanted the deputy to spend his time mainly patrolling the Lake area.

Why are you not concerned with the safety of your fellow citizens? It takes 30 min. for an ambulance to reach the lower end of the county. A first responder is a life saver. A one time cost of $20,000 is little to pay even if one life is saved. I don't believe that it takes 30 min for an ambulance to reach Iron City , Donalsonville or any other part of the upper county.
You apparently don't understand how the county governing system works. Each commissioner is elected by the people of his or her district to represent that district according to it's needs. They all try to work together for the good of the county. This is a very difficult and challenging job.
I would almost bet that you have never been to one commission meeting in your entire life.

First of all, it does not take an ambulance 30 minutes to get to "the lake". 15 minutes at the most dummy. Tommy Boy Rogers is the chairman and is supposed to be looking out for the entire county which he don't. You lose your bet. I have attended many commission meetings. You say one time cost. Balogny. Have you considered the upkeep, utilities, phones, computers, burglar alarms etc. Oh well, its all about the lake. You dummies knew what was there when you moved there. What can a deputy accomplish sitting in a portable building at the lake? Whats next, an ambulance to sit at the portable building too? On and on and on.

40% my a$$. It is 16% dummy. Go look it up. The lake has 1/5 of population and you think ya'll pay 40%. Hogwash.

Dear Looking,

I am going to reveal something to you that may shock you...When (not if) you have a heart attack you have five minutes before your brain begins to die due to lack of oxygen, Wayne like him or not can be to 99% of the people at the lake in three to four minutes....thus meaning you will not be a vegatable when you are snatched from death by one of low life EMT's or Paramedics. I am thankful that wayne is down there to be of service. And moreover an ambulance at the lake is a great idea that would be optimal...but due to budget restraints is cannot be accomplished yet, sit back and think..if you have kids..your child, your mother, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, best friend, wife or husband has a accident while at the lake, falls from a tree, has an asthma attack, stroke, heart attack, or can't brethe, do you want to wait at least 28 minutes of EMS or do you want help within five to eight minutes?? You can say you would take them to the hospital your self, but thats how people die...people with no knowledge, or training in medicine try to drive people who is not brathing to the hospital, if you do this you delay CPR which is vital, you delay advanced airway placement which is vital, and you delay cardiac drugs which can make the stopped heart beat again. I have personally seen wayne save one life, due to hippa I can't discuss the case but I will say that because of the quick response of Wayne and the use of the tools and knowledge he has a life was saved, and a stopped heart beat again due to his quick response and I can bear wittness to that. so Dear LOOKING look in the mirror and see how stupid you look, and how stupid you sound and the population break up of seminole county is that 30-40% of the tax base is in the lake area

Does this mean that the top 40 tax payers get special treatment too? Let me guess you will answer the question on Feb 31.

Get it Straight certainly has it straight! As for Looking and the rest of the naysayers who posted on this topic, it would be wise to actually check your information before posting and certainly before telling others to check it out! From personal experience on several occasions I can tell you that approximately 30 minutes is the correct response time for ambulance to the lake and the sheriff is only about 5 minutes faster in most cases. The need for this service at the lake is great and if Seminole County wants to grow the need will become even greater because a lot of retirees and new families want to (and have) move here and they expect and need this type of service plus a few more ammeneties such as grocery, banking and so forth. Get use to the idea of our commissioner (this one and the next) asking for services at the lake, because if he/she has a brain it will be clear that the lake area is the most promising for potential growth (population) in Seminole County. As for the tax issue, wake up! If you check with the tax office they will confirm that the residents of the lake area actually pay 42% of this county's property tax and comprise approximately 40% of the county's registered voters (and that number is growing). Keep in mind that the lake area spans 2 Districts in this county and has 2 commissioners representing it- and by the way, BOTH voted that this is a needed service! Tommy may have looked into the matter and got the ball rolling, but Scott made the motion and Barbara seconded, Tommy only broke the tie.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Cancer

Hold it! You need to approach things in a calm, controlled manner today otherwise you're likely to get yourself into a state in no time at all. That's especially likely if you're trying to meet a deadline because you'll start to panic and then become all fingers and thumbs. You might also get extremely ratty with anyone who gets in your way or asks stupid questions. Come on, is that fair?
