Because the CT Post has a lot of trouble with accurately reporting factual information.

And why the inflamatory subject of Immigration? Why not the War on Terror as the headline?

It should read "District 4", but I guess the Post thinks Bridgeport is the only place in our district with illegals. I've been listening to Himes - nice guy, sounds good but he tells you what is wrong and how the Republicans screwed it up (the democrats control congress, but go figure). I have yet to hear him say how he is going to fix it.

Whitnum's right about the influx of immigrants/non-citizens taking jobs from U.S. citizens. I work in (not at) one of UBS' backoffice buildings in Stamford and 95% of the back office programmers are Indians or Europeans - most are not citizens. It's a shame.

Hey, to all you brains out there.
People who come into U.S.A illegally cost all of us big bucks . For every dollar they pay in taxes ,we the American tax payer dish out millions if not billons in social services , health care ,etc..Plus they send alot of the money they earn back to there country.

How about illegal gang members killing americans. Then they fill are jails ,that cost about $45.000 per inmate pre year.

I like to see a U.S.A citizen try to set up shop in Panama, Mexico,.Italy ,France , Africa etc. Without llegal paper work ,
see how far you get.

I say yes to people from other countries who want to come to U.S.A legally .
I say yes maybe to workers premit program if done right.
I say no to open borders, and catering to there needs.

It`s a crime in Bridgeport with all the illegals there.

Is it the Post's practice to simply let anyone say whatever he/she wants and print it as fact???? Are you incapable of asking questions and follow-up questions? Fact-checking?

Lee Whitnum is so out of touch with reality that its scary. She wants two cops to deal with immigration issues in each community. In Bridgeport alone we have to have at least 20,000 illegals. The local and State police can't enforce federal laws.

She goes on to talk of illegals taking jobs from African-Americans. If this isn't the most ignorant thing I have heard in a long time.

She goes on to talk about the US failure to work with the Taliban. She must have blocked out the whole 9/11 thing. The Taliban hated anything that wasn't fundemental Islam. They destroyed temples, churches, and religous artifacts. They imprisoned and killed citizens of Afganistan.

Will the Post investigate WHY Whitnum lost her jobs and has been unable to get new ones? It ISN'T because of immigrants. In fact, maybe the Post should investigate whether or not she should be allowed to be in a classroom with children.

Will the Post investigate who's been paying Lee Whitnum's bills for the last 20 years? Will they ask voters if they want to send the mistress of married men to Congress?

Does the Post want to investigate Lee's history of making false claims against innocent people?

Will the Post look into possible financial improprieties in Whitnum's campaign finances? Why hasn't she reported? Where did she get almost $10k? Is someone secretly bankrolling her... and why?

Hey Lee, why haven't you filed your FEC report yet? What part of illegal don't YOU understand?

Did Ms. Silvers ask Whitnum any other questions? How 'bout her position on the Iraq War, Social Security, universal health care, illegal wiretapping, Guantanamo, the economy? Did she ask anything about those leading issues? No?

And why did she not ask Whitnum how she expected to contest and win a general election when she'd not raised a single cent of campaign funds? Did Silvers not follow up with Whitnum to ask how she expected to be "reimbursed" for her own contributions? Did she not think to ask Whitnum if she was violating campaign laws by failing to file a campaign finance statement with the authorities? Did she not think it relevant to ask Whitnum why she hadn't taken another job in her field, to ask her if she'd tried, and to see why she's only substitute teaching?

Really, is this the standard of reporting that Connecticut Post thinks we deserve? If so, it's no wonder that the newspaper industry is in such bad shape.

Shays, for all his strengths and weaknesses is fair and balanced and a better candidate then either Democrat.

So those of you saying that bridgeport is full of Brazilians, how do you know they don't have their papers. You sound like a racist. Only if this writer considers Fox News "fair and balanced" could he possibly think Shays is "fair and balanced". Shays is the guy who was completely wrong about Iraq from the start, and still wants to keep 60,000 troops there for years to come, even when the president and vice-president of Iraq just told us that they want all American troops out of their country by 2010.

And why does everyone give Shays a pass for voting to send hundreds of thousands of young Americans to fight and die in Iraq when he claimed conscientious objector status during the Vietnam War in 1972? Where is the morality in a guy who believes that it is immoral to take up arms in defense of his country voting repeatedly to send other people's kids to fight and be killed? And just how did Shays wiggle out of the draft in December 1969 when his lottery number of 5 came up at the height of the fighting there?

Do you think that is ethical and moral?

And what about Shays' bald-faced lies about his support for timelines for withdrawal of our troops? He told voters in Connecticut many times before the election that he supported setting a firm timeline for the withdrawal of our troops, then, once safely re-elected, he turned around and voted against timelines five different times. Is a politician supposed to be rewarded with re-election when he lies so blatantly about an issue as critical to the country as war?

And now he's telling us he's in favor of universal health care legislation. But not one single time in his twenty two years in office had he ever before supported creating a system of universal health care. If yoiu think he's telling us the truth about this, you probably believed that he was telling us the truth about supporting a timeline for withdrawal from Iraq.

And what about Shays' support for Bush's plan to privatize Social Security? He was one of the very first and most enthusiastic supporters of dissolving Social Security by diverting one-third of all receipts into private accounts. That measure was so unpopular that the Republican Congress didn't even bringing it up for a vote.

And what about Shays' wackiness? This is the guy who launched that long "profanity-laced tirade" against a Capitol police officer, then grabbed the guy's nametag on his uniform. Isn't this guy becoming an embarrassment?

And this is the guy who says that the president of the United States can do anything he wants, regardless of the law, provided that he says he's doing it in the name of national security and acting as "commander-in-chief" .

Fair and balanced- just like Fox News.

PAUL, you may have misunderstood. What i meant by that is that bridgeport is far far away from being a heaven for illegals. The main reason is because the majority of the population is Perto Rican, who all happen to be American Citizens. I know every race has their bad apples. I like Puerto Ricans, Actually my wife is from Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
