Cynical...still small minded, my husband was a civilian officer as well as a military mp...so before you say all african americans murder, statistically it is the other race that is opposite of blacks, so trash is as trash does.

As with all concerns in the world, maybe his is to prove a point that what is acceptable with some, is unacceptable to others. Have you seen the First Lady doll yet? To me it misrepresents who she is and it isn't very flattering. She is beautiful woman and should be portrayed as such. For instnace look at all the Barbie dolls on the market, even their African American Dolls portray elegance why not this one, but not to be getting off subject, the guy has a right to voice an opinion or view.

omg get real. this is ridiculous. so many more important things in the world and some black guy wants to keep racism alive so complains about a doll, making the word "monkey" a racist word. why did he buy the doll? what is he planning on doing with it?

This is a shame ! Do not disrespect me further by expecting me to believe that Brasskey Keepsakes nor Costco did not consider/think about this being disrespectful to the Negro/Black race.
That shows, even more, how inconsiderate, thoughtless and racist you are !! IT DIDN'T CROSS YOUR MIND THAT IT WOULD/COULD BE SEEN AS RACIST !!!! YEA RIGHT

did Al Sharpmouth and Jesse Jacka$$ investigate this, as I see stereotypical BS all over this report, of course Costco did what any big store would have done, because the religious black leaders would demand that action be taken and the news media would run to cover and report it.
If we all would stop listening to these civil rights whinners then we can move on to real issues like gang violence and teen crimes that are out of control, the black community has turned they're backs on they're youth and expect the tax payers to pay for feel good programs to solve it. I say more jails and hard, hard time for these troubled youths of all races, they must go to the school of hard knocks to get they're education.
Well, I couldnt agree more. In what church is the reverend Jessie Jackson A preacher at? How bout Al "trouble maker" Sharpton? ZAPPP!!!!! Back to reality folks.

Make no mistake about it, Gustaff is lying.

As for Taylor, why did the employees have to pull the product?- why didn't he pull the product?"

And for Jackson, what do you mean "...to anyone who was offended..."? Why weren't YOU offended? With such little awareness, why are you managing anything?

Such is the case with GOD-lessness. Black people have long been given the history of being forgiving and having short memories - maybe not good. Forgiveness of people is always good, but forgiveness of corporations is not always good and this certainly should not be quickly forgotten.

Why in God's name would anyone call a baby doll a monkey? especially a black doll. Being that it is a racially spurred word used against african american people. This is a idiotic and senseless move on the manager or product buyer for the store and should never happen again. Since
Arican American hold a high amount of buying power when it comes to goods and services this can ultimately hurt their store and it should. Why does this continually happen? And why can't people just live in peace no matter what color they are.

Spoken like a true caucasian in denial! RACISM does still exist. I can't believe that they Costco employees who shelved the doll did not notice the offensive lingo. Wait, let me guess, they were also caucasian! I am a highly educated black female and have some very close caucasian friends and even they thought it was crossing the border. Wake up and smell the coffee Gabrielle, as long as people like you are in denial, the real racists will continue to push the envelope. If you had a beautiful black daughter, would you want her to play with a doll that depicts her as a ****? My guess, is NO!
crossing the border....could be considered racist

I believe we have better things to worry about like all the Troops over seas fighting for all of us White, Black, purple, pink or whatever color we are, they are all over there fighting for our rights and we all are still stuck in the past Grow UP Really

So you think that because Mr. Obama was voted in office as president, racism does not exist? How blind are you! Yes, he won by a landslide, however, there is still a large population of Americans that dislike blacks and will go to any means to prove it. I don't expect any caucasian to ever understand. Until you have never been in a longterm minority position, save your "don't fuel the flames" speech for your white friends. I don't need to meet a slave to know that slavery existed and the reprocussions have yet to dissapate. I agree that it was a travesty how the Native Americans were treated. However, they were granted their own land and government to run any way they choose. On the other hand, MILLIONS of blacks were shackled, beaten, and dragged away from their families only to come to America and be slaves for both Europeans AND Native Americans (yes, they had slaves as well). When it ended, we weren't given land, money, or even the prospect of a descent education. The hatred continued, hundreds of years later, remember MLK? He wasn't marching for fun, he was marching for racial equality and that was in the 60's. Bring it up to the year 2009, "You lie!" When have you ever know a caucasian president to be disrespected so badly during a senate hearing? Chances are, never. Considering the history of calling blacks, monkeys, can you honestly say it was a wise choice to name a black doll lil monkey? They say there was a white doll as well, and to that I say "Prove it" I have yet to see any pictures of her white counterpart. You "whiteys that are sick of hearing all this racial inequality propaganda" need to stay away from those of us that are dealing with the issue head on. Just find some nice beach to continue to burry your head and we'll come find you when it's all over.
First of all, I am a white woman of Cherokee heritage. My family was split by the trail of tears. My great-grandmother managed to stay in Va because she was 1/2 white and could "pass". We never owned a slave. Second of all, I have a grandson who I call "monkey" all the time! Should I be taken out and shot for calling my grandson a monkey? I have black friends and have heard them refer to their own children as monkeys. It is a term of endearment! My God! There are two sets of rules these days, White Rules and Black Rules. Whites can't say the "n" word (and most of us don't want to, it's an ugly word!), but blacks can, do, and take pride in it! My daughter went to a 3% white school. I go in one day and hear an african american girl talking about kicking that "white" girl's *&&. She turns, sees me, and immediately apologizes. I asked her would she accept my apology if the shoe were on the other foot? WTH! Third, all this talk of slavery and being dragged from their family....who sold the slaves to the white man? You're own people sold your family into slavery! For God's sake, you want to be mad at someone, trace your family back, find out who sold the first family member, and go after them! Oh, yea....another thing, I, a white woman, happily voted for our president - he is 1/2 white, was raised by white people and I'm sick of hearing how we have a black president! We have a president! Yes, there are whites out there who dislike blacks. There are black who dislike whites. This will always be so. Do your part to stop it. Raise your children to respect mankind. Regardless of race.

Monkey has been used as a racial insult to African Americans in the country for years. To ignore this and pretend that its just people being sensitive is stupid. The white doll is Pretty Panda. Do you think they would change that to little monkey and call the black doll Pretty Panda? I don't think so!

Monkey has also been used as a term of endearment by mothers even longer. Used to make my youngest so mad! She'd tell me she wasn't a monkey and I'd say, yes you are! We had your tail removed when you were born!-- I just searched for a white version. I couldn't find one. So, I assume -- could be wrong -- that their was only the black Lil Monkey and a white Lil Panda. I would have wanted a white Lil Monkey to give to her. So, if there was no white Lil Monkey or black Lil Panda, then I would agree that it was a stupid act on some doll makers part. However, I would have been very willing to swap clothes and stuffed monkey/panda with someone! It was a really cute doll!

This is outragous. If you want to see racism in everything that is your problem. The American culture is so overly PC, that they call any black person an African American regardless of whether the person even set foot in th U.S.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I wonder if you have ever sat on your porch and watched the KKK march by,discover a Hangman Noose on your garage...Gone to Vietnam and suffered prom Agent Orange,122 Bombs fired at you, unloaded many bodies from helicopters'
Not to mention riding in the back of Greyhounds, having to eat from the back of resturants, going to schools with hand me down books and supplies from white schools.
Yet, COSTCO had the nerve to place a Black Doll in a Box with A monkey with with LiL monkey on its head.Being in Okinawa and my commander telling I was not going to be promoted because I was black.
Yes we have a Black President, however it does not make up for the past.

I think the doll is cute but why did you have to put the monkey with this baby and not the white doll. Black children like panda's too and the monkey with the black doll is not cute not to mention that the bib, and the hat that states "lil black monkey"and noise that the doll makes. This is very offensive and should be pulled off the shelves.

I am really amazed,I wonder if the assistat Black Buyer is still laughing at corporate Costco for trying to sell the doll, they probably did not ask him/her if the doll would be offinsive. Sometimes money speakes for itself someone in Costco knew the doll was insenstive.I am hoping they are not repacking the doll for future sales.By the way Costco donates money to the NAACP to keep them from speaking out about the doll.
