Greensboro Police Identify Speeding 'Hot Spots'

Full story: Fox 8 WGHP

Has this ever happened to you: you're cruising down Wendover Ave., keeping up with the flow of traffic, and suddenly you glance down at the speedometer and notice you're going 60 miles per hour? You're not the only one.

I agree. I often travel on Wendover and find drivers who will ride your bumper in an effort to get you to drive faster. I always look straight ahead and never change my speed because of them. As my grandmother use to say "if their cars have wings, then they can fly - over me". Until that time, I will drive at the speed limit.

There was also a police speed trap set up today on East Fork Road near the Jamestown Golf Club in Jamestown around 11:00 am. I guess it's another high speed area!

You're probably one of those slow drivers that ride in the left lane all the time.

There isn't much chance to change lanes on Wendover with the amount of traffic and if you are doing the speed limit it shouldn't be a problem to you. Perhaps you are one of those people who ride on the bumpers of others.

Oops! Looks as if I touched a nerve...Just to set the record straight, I'm not one to ride bumpers. I'm a considerate and safe driver with an exemplary driving record.

I say patrol I-40. People drive 80 and above there and could get more people killed at higher speeds.

I lived in Greensboro for almost 35 years and lived on Wendover (between Battleground and Hill) for five years. The police could just sit in there all day and have their monthly "quota" in a week. It is just full of morons who have no business being behind the wheel. That's why there are a ton of wreck there every year and it's mostly from people riding each other's tail for no good reason. I used to sit out on my front porch and just watch the mayhem develop. I am admittedly no light foot driver but I have been blown by a lot of people while I was doing between 50 and 55. 70 mph on Wendover between Holden and Hill is more common than some people think. Trust me on that one.

If everyone was to follow the laws inaccordance, would the insurance have to be so high or would we need more law enforcement to slow down idots of all types? Just think about this. Anyone can do wrong but can you do right???????

@kerry--Your logic is so flawed it is laughable. So if people are going 80 in 55 on I-40 through Greensboro (which plenty of people do), they should just raise the speed limit to 80 MPH? You must be one of those people getting the tickets. While we're at it, let's just raise the speed limit on Wendover to 70. Pure genius (insert sarcasm)!!
