The City does not pay for the fireworks. The are paid for by DONATIONS FROM BUSINESS AND CITIZENS. There is a special account at The Farmers and Merchants bank for fireworks. You are invited to go make a donation since the cost in years past was over $4500. Also the Dyer Station Celebration Committee tries to raise money to support the celebration not the City.

So i would suggest you go to The F&M Bank an make a big donation. And next year come out and help put up flags on the streets, buy a few ribbons, help with the food at the street dance and just pay for the band that plays. All done by the Dyer Station Committee as well as other events not done by the City but by people and businesses.
Can we put you down for a $1.000 donation? By the way the City does help as well as police and Fire Depart. with all the celebrations.

See you and your family next year helping.

well i think thats a bunch of crock because there are better things to raise for like people that need help in dyer that cant afford there bills because the stinking city stickers for one and then say it isnt so during a time of economical crisis our property taxes are going up again you can argue against me but then once again your probably either got enough money and dont care or your benefiting from it so burn some more fireworks or any other stupid exspenses so someone elses kids or grandkids can go hungery

With all respect, if you are so broke, why not cancel your internet service and use that money to help feed your hungrey children or grandchildren.

I agree totally with you. As you might have seen if you read the paper, this is the 25th year of the DSC and I can honestly say in these times when we can't always afford what we would like, it is nice to see a tradition hold and know that there is something to look forward to. My kids enjoy the fireworks every year, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
