Thanks Mayor King for keeping up our parks and playgrounds. We now feel our kids are safe from being injured on rusted old equipment. As parents we now have a nice place to sit while our children play. My children love to feed the ducks at Hardin Park. The bathrooms are now clean. Your employees are doing a great job. You told me that you would take care of my safety concerns and you have kept your word. Thanks again.

The Knoxville News Sentinel headline this weekend read Budget Woes. "Expect grim news and dire options this week when Gov. Phil Bredesen conducts a series of budget hearings in Nashville. Officials say Tennessee is in a 'deep hole' that it won't escape any time soon."

Mayor King you are doing a marvelous job keeping our our services moving with obviously less and less money to operate with.

Your critics should put petty politics aside and speak candidly about the facts you presented on saving the town money last week. Keep up the great work I am sure it is a difficult task.

I spend some of my time walking at the Eastview Recreation Center and I must say it is so much cleaner than it once was. The trash cans that were holding the rain water from the leaky roof are all gone. I bet you thought we would not notice now didn't you. And,I no longer see people watching their television sets with there feet up on the desks like they once did. My dearest Tammy is always friendly and is so very kind and nice to all of us. We just love her. I wanted to put my two cents in for what it's worth and to tell you that I am very thankful to be living in such a wonderful place. I wish each of you an abundance of good things.

The Mayor is using her title and job to benefit herself and finances because of her position. Her friends and close associates, benefit this way too. Jim Warner, for instance, knows when any land is up for sale, property that is owed back taxes on, and any undeveloped or land that is being developed and his wife is a real estate agent who has made several "iffy" purchases and turned them into gold. The Mayor has been caught in so many lies over her--moving the rec department around and reasonings to do so. Can we just say that she has a vendetta against anyone who "bucks her authority" or doesn't agree with her way of thinking. And of course as an "elected" official, am sure that this is a one-shot deal. She runs no hope of being elected again.

Mayor King is the first mayor that this city has had since the late James N.Hardin who really gives a damn about Greeneville. How could she possibly profit by saving the city thousands of dollars?? What does she have to gain except a thank you from the grateful taxpayers? If you really want to get serious about graft and corruption, why not look into Terry Leonard and people like that??Over the years,he has used his positions as bank board member, power board member, and industrial planning commission member to enrich himself to the point of being blatantly obvious. He has used his connections from these boards to "front-run" and find out about industries coming to Greeneville. Then he builds them a building, sells them land,or whatever before anyone else can find out about it..And he has groomed his son Bob to follow in his dirty footsteps.Does Terry get a pass on this board??I am ashamed that none of you can see the obvious. The Truthteller has spoken..

Noone said that Warner had top sales in Greeneville or Greene county, but example is: the land near the fairgrounds that was turned into commercial property and then sold for a freaking highway??? Come on!!!! Inside information about this propert and other? Yes indeed. The city is corrupt, as is most. People in significant positions with significant gain.

Tommy Hawn and his father bought farm land where the new highway 172 / Northern Loop will be developed, They have had to hang on to this property for over 10 years and still more years to come,
If you were a rich man you would know Mowing and taxes of these deals take most of the profits.
I think Tommy Hawn will be selling Insurance for quite some time!
The city plans are fortold in all "open" meetings. If you know of Warners plans then you must have been at the neetings as well. Your just too poor to buy anything and keep it mowed.
Grow up little man , it ain't going to get any better!
Remember when Bryan, and W.T. were elected? Millions of Greeneville tax payers money was wasted from the city budget during their days of leadership.
Could you imagine now with W.T running for Mayor how awful it would be if Bryan ran for alderman. With their buisness partner Buddie Hawk already in office! That would be a box of cracker Jax! LOL
If Greeneville voted that bunch in then Greeneville would deserve her justice of the rest of the budget funds wasted and property taxes hiked - up LOL

Keep up the good work Mayor King. We know you working for all Greeneville taxpayers. As the New Sentinel reported we are in a deep hole that will not be easy to escape any time soon.

The workers who have been moved to the Street Department should be happier because they wont get laid off this winter like they use to in past years. The owrkers also got almost $2 an hour department raise. Wow! That would make me happier!
$80 a week more and not get laid off !!

Hey, Tuesday 17th Greeneville had an industrial meeting at Link Hills Golf course and the only two Greeneville City counsel persons there were Mayor King and Alderman Paxton. The Greene County counsel and Mayor Allen were mostly present. What’s wrong with the other city Aldermen not wanting industries to move into Greeneville?
I talked to Mr. Paxton during the meeting and asked if he thought the Rec, Department was guilty of stealing. He told me the Rec. Department had the best budget year it has had in many years by far. He said his letter to the news paper, he never said any one was stealing.
Mr. Paxton’s letter in the Greeneville’s Sun, he said (MTAS) would have to review the budget facts to show exactly why $65 thousand less was spent in expenditures and there was an increase profit of $34 thousand more than last year. That is $100,000.00,
Mayor King’s numbers show the Rec Department overtime 2 years ago was 34,000.00 just in overtime pay.
There are 4 less workers then in 2006 that is over $320 a week each or $1,280.00 plus insurance premiums. At $50 week each or $200.00 a week in insurance for 4 workers, that is $35,000.00 a year.
That is already almost $200,000.00 a year and the cost of the gas saved isn’t added in.
I thought I read 17 thousand gallons. 17 thousand times an average of 3 dollars a gallon gets close to $50,000.00 where are we now $250,000.00 in savings.
No wonder any intelligent person would question moving the Rec men back during a recession.

W. T. you need to wise up because you are looking like you want to help Greeneville go broke. The state Government was talking to Mr. Paxton at the dinner and stated 2010 would be worst than 2009 and Greeneville had better keep saving money the best She knew how. I have seen Mr. Paxton at a lot of meetings lately dealing with industries; Mayor King was there too, the other Aldermen were not there. How many other meetings have the other Aldermen missed lately to cause W. T. to think so different and have been voting “no” on almost all issues discussed lately? W.T. hasn’t agreed with all 3 of the Aldermen the last 4 votes. W.T. I guess everyone in the world sees everything wrong or you’re not listening very well at the “work shops”. W.T. thinks it is time to waste money!

Keep up the good work Mayor King !!

I applaud Mayor King for her strong leadership and integrity. I am confident given this tough economy she has fould it difficult to keep the wheels moving.

From everthing that I have read the change she implemented in reassignment of staff seems reasonable to me. The results are impressive.

Her common sense approach to money and time management is refreshing. I do not believe for one second that she will tolerate foolishness and indifference at any level. What a change for the good.

I too applaud Mayor King for moving city employees where work needed to be done. The last time I heard Greeneville Taxpayers pay the salary of all city employees. I don't think the employees really care where they work as long as they have a job and good benefits. I read in the paper where one of the aldermen said that when he got them moved back to the rec department they would no longer repair the streets, clean out city parking lots, plant trees in the park, or weedeat around public buildings. Why not? They are getting paid and the work needs to be done. I suggest that they leave the mayor along and let her do the job she was elected to do!

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Capricorn

A certain person is strong-willed with the Full Moon in your emotional house of others. It's a lunar eclipse too, so this could lead to some ructions in which everyone becomes firmly entrenched in their own opinions and refuses to acknowledge anyone else's point of view. Get the arguments out of the way early on, so you can then concentrate on having a really enjoyable New Year's Eve.
