But if our schools had the money that is suppose to come from the property tax increase these things wouldnt be. Lets remember that todays children are tomarrows leaders. is that why my child is n the 7th grade at chuckey doak middle and I just found out Friday that she doesnt have spelling this year cuz its not on the tcaps so the teacher cant teach it cuz she already has 2 other subjects 2 teach.....but guess wat she got her damn raise this yr.....but they r not teaching my child...I dont care 2 pay tax increases but I cant spell or right a damn sentence so I think they should do there job....

WOW. It's funny how people don't seem to realize what officers live on . Their salaries are far below the national average . Sure some are bad, same as in any job. But we call them when we are in danger, injured, or if our homes have been burglarized. They deal often with drug addicts, liars, spouse beaters, drunks , thieves and see enough mangled car crashes some of which they will see in their minds for a long long time . So God forbid that our town has an officer/officers who have any family values and want to drop their kid off at school. If this is all you have to bitch about life is good .

Perhaps the officer was on his way to work & dropped off the child along the way. Big deal if that was the case! Also, an officer's random presence might ward off drug dealers preying on school kids, dangerous domestic issues spilling over onto school grounds, school shootings, etc. IF the officer was dropping off his child on the way in, I really don't see the problem. Maybe this was a random event due to the child missing his bus. At any rate, with the craziness & drama on school grounds these days, the LAST THING I WOULD COMPLAIN ABOUT IS AN OFFICER'S PRESENCE! Hey, I just realized, is this dad single? Maybe I need to start looking at the soccer dad market for available men! Bahahahaha! Bahahaha!

I might agree about jones and kirk, but don't change the subject. Although you may be one of these mooching cops. i agree with you. we want to know whats wrong with our kids.! you all suppose to be adults and you cant even stay focused on one subject. not that schools are not important but please stay on subject. or start you own. the sheriff taxi/bus is at chuckey elemtary too. do the officers have to clock in/out? if so why cant they drive their own cars to work, school, grocery store and most important the gas station, like the rest of us. see how much money that would save in the budget!!!!!

Ha, typical greene co. Always worried about what someone else is doing. God forbid you mind your own business. Maybe the officer was taking his child to school on his way to work. And if its on his way to work or the zone he is covering how much of your tax dollars is truly being wasted? Why don't you piss and moan about these pathetic pill heads or other useless trolls in this county that use an ambulance for a taxi? And abuse the system which takes away from the elderly to where they can't get there meds or get taken to an ER when they need it because they can't afford it. So seriously instead of worrying about a father possibly taking his child to school. find something else to bitch about.

Seriously guys, all this over a cop taking their child to school. Yes I do agree that tax payers money is being misused but did u ever think that maybe this particular child may have missed the bus and his/her parent is a cop and was at work so they just picked their child up and took them to school so the child wouldn't be late or miss school. Or maybe the cop works the night shift, got off at 7 in the morning, the child had to be at school by 8, so the parent came straight from work picked up their child and took them to school. At least this child is going to school and has a parent that will take them, a lot of kids these days don't even have parents that care enough to make sure they get to school everyday, and most of the parents that do care usually have to be at work hours before school even starts and aren't able to drive their children to school everyday to make sure they get there. This is absolutely ridiculous. You all will find anything to b***h about and throw anyone else under the bus and it's usually just to cover up or hide the things that you are doing.

Their shifts start at 7am or end at 7am so either way they shouldn't have a child in the car with them. I guess if an emergency happens that is an officer that wouldn't be available to respond due to having a child with them. If they are off duty they shouldn't be using the car for personal purposes. Oh and they make more than the average person in Greeneville

They have already taxed the working people to death and it still hasn't fixed the problem with money. I don't know about anybody else but I had a property tax increase last year. They did the wheel tax, they do the property tax and we still have a problem having money to operate schools. I know there is alot more kids in school today than in the past but how many more homes is there that are paying property tax than in the past years.

What if the kid was giving the parent a hard time about going to school, and the parent had the police to take the kid to school to scare him so he would go to school. This does happen. My sister had to do this to my nephew and it worked. He never gave her a hard time again about going to school and he just graduated with honors. Everyone is always jumping conclusions without knowing the facts.

The kid was probably being dropped off while the parent was on the way to work, like MANY parents do with their kids or missed the bus. But of course someone will find something to bitch about no matter what the circumstances are. There is so much more to be worried about than an officer, who protects us, dropping their kid off at school. DAMN!

No, you would not see anything wrong with using MY car and MY gas to do everything. What about all the other times that this TAXPAYER vehicle is at the grocery store, school, athletic practices, shopping, etc..... Some of these cops kids must miss the bus often, like everyday. And about these pathetic a$$e$ protecting me? They're not doing a very good job. Have you read the paper and all the thefts, drugs, burglary. Geez. Do a better job myself and cheaper, and would not have to listen to them cry all the time about everything.

at least if they are "just dropping them off cause they missed the bus". they could stick around long enough to enforce the school zone. at least that way it would pay for the gas my taxes pay for!!! or they could let me keep my tax money and i will take my own kids, like that wll happen lol

hey not knocking off on their job. but the idea it makes everyone safer cause hey are dropping their kid off at school, dumb. they are their what 30 seconds. not to say that something couldnt happen. but come on. leave the patrol car at the station drive your own. like the rest of us. o, the pay is not the best but it isnt bad. benefits are real good, plus they give you a car to drive and all the gas you need. not to bad. besides andy and opie lived 2 min from the jail. policemen are not the only ones. water, power, you name it. but only the important ones. imagine the money that could be saved. but nope lets raise taxes.
