Three teens charged with underage consumption

Apparently the parents didn`t know or care where their children were.

Who bought the alcohol for the minors? Charges should be brought against the buyer/purveyor of the booze. It just didn't fall out of the sky into the car. Hold these toads responsible!

Well they usually do find out who bought it but it does take a little while to figure it out......kids at that age are very manipulative, they probably told the parents "I'm staying with so and so tonight" and the other kids said the same thing and so on..... So I'm sure their parents are takin' care of that, I have a 15 year old ohhhhh if he pulled this stunt.......

No mention if the 2 operators were charged with DUI after they were tested.

You gotta exceed a BAC threshold limit before you are DUI; however, that limit is lower for juveniles.

I don't think that the parents didn't care.
I was a teenager once( as you probably were) and I was able to sneak around with doing things. My mom and dad are the best and have always been there for me. I was the one that didn't care when I was younger and I am glad they loved me through it all! Quit assumming what others feel and what they think. Until you are in those shoes, don't judge. Do you have children?

Should have been easy to catch the kids at Sheetz. The cops are always there!
I'm sure there aren't many people who didn't have a beer or something before they were legal age. But not wise to have it in the car and be driving around with it!

All children rebel againist their upbringing, if your didn't, your in for a rude awakening.
I know parents who didn't know until their kids had kids who got caught. Sometimes I think the ones who don't get caught, are just better liars.

i'm not going to condone the parents as i'm a parent and my oldest snuck out and got drunk and got caught for dui...he/she paid the price including all the fines..dui school,probation and the most devistating thing of all was the loss of the liscense.so please don't blame the parents cause at the age of those youths they will sneek around and see how much they can get away with and then brag about it..

"cmomma, You have a good point about summer jobs, but may I suggest a few hours of community sevice. Sweeping the square at a prescribed time after public announcemnt would be a deterent. Let the good citizens gather about, and then give them a pat on the back upon completion of there punishment. Show them that they are not outcasts, but rather valuable assets of the community.

Yes, lets not bad mouth the parents. These may be parents who were just deceived by their kids. After all, at that age teenagers will see what they can get into.
I say we should be thankful that someone reported it to the police and they were caught. These young people could have had an accident and lost their lives or killed someone else. I hope their getting pulled over by the police, put a scare into them and they don't drink and drive anymore.
I hope the parents come down hard on their kids. I know ~~ they are teenagers and you have to treat them like adults, but first they have to act like responsible adults. They should be grounded and that would include talking to their friends on the phone. Can you imagine how hard this would be for teenagers ~ not talking to their friends for a while!!
And if the parents are reading this, I hope you are setting good examples for your kids. It is true (believe it or not) kids learn from what they live around. Don't give them the excuse to say, well mom or dad does that!!

I think we all "should" care, these are the children of our future. I too think in addition to their parents punishment they should perform community service, hard work never hurt anybody. And I think it's up to the parents to talk to other parents when you kids are saying they are staying over or visiting so and so's, and check up on their where abouts and if thats to much for a parent to do then maybe a parenting class is in order.

Get off yourself faith. Kids will be kids. If they learn from their mistakes then they will ultimately be contributing members of the community, but if they don't they will be like every other born loser in franklin co that considers getting arrested a weekly chore. Lighten up faith and don't be so naive. By the wat this happens every day to kids but for some reason the PO put it on the front page. There are many successful people that have lived their life to the fullest even when they were teenagers, ie the past few presidents to name a few and a litany of senators and congressmen.

Beside that ~ you are the one who started by saying about this being front page news. I guess there are times when not real exciting things happen in out area.
But then again ~ I guess you would rather see "Mass Murder or Murder, Suicide, or Armed Robbery and People Killed, or some other horrific things taking place in our area.

I like "morris Plantation's" idea of community service. This would be a great deterent.
