Policeman's gesture makes impression; ox roast starts today

On a recent Friday afternoon, my family and I were eating at Tony's New York Pizza on South Antrim Way, when a police officer walked through the door.

Way to go Officer Strayer! What a wonderful idea. It's nice to see that you care so much about the children in our area.

Preston is a wonderful man . he has always been so gentle and caring . and im glad to say he has been a close and personal friend of mine for 15 years . and there is nothing he wont do to help someone . way to go preston keep up the good work .. there is an old saying that in a hundred years it wont matter what kind of car he drove or how big his house or bank account was but the impression he left on one child that made a difference .

I've never met Officer Strayer, but he sounds like a really nice guy. It's good that he is putting such a positive face on law enforcement, b/c often we only hear about the bad cops who makes everyone else on the force look bad too.

I've known Preston and his late brother for almost my entire life and I can say that I know of no one who ever wanted to be a policeman more than him, and not for the power of the badge. Preston really has a desire to help, protect, and serve and it is about time he finally found his niche'.

Keep up the great work Preston!!

nicely done. now if we could get the rest of the area police to care like that.... especially the state boys, they act like jerks most of the time, and wonder why they get treated with disrespect. i don't know this strayer guy, but kudos to him for being respectful, especially kids.

I've known Preston for many years, when we worked and lived together, and he not only would do whatever he could to help anyone else out, he'd do so without thinking about it. It was second nature.

Preston is a wonderful person and close friend for the last six years. He truly loves his job, because he's doing what he's always wanted to do. He also truly loves people and especially children. It shows!! You're the best!! Preston was the Chief Deputy for the Franklin County Sheriff's Office for several years until the new sheriff took over and told him his services were no longer needed. It's good to know some people can recognize a winner! Way to go, Greencastle!
