"Public Opinion asked 10 people if they would get the H1N1 vaccine if they had the chance."

Really? Ten whole people? Well that's certainly a representative sample giving us much valuable information.

Thanks PO! What would we know without you?

...Oh yeah...exactly the same thing since you haven't expanded our knowledge or understanding one bit.

Thanks for the update. I think I will pass on the swine flu shot. I never got a flu shot and was considering getting one this year. I am now reconsidering.

"(I don't plan on getting the shot) unless I catch it," Elton Hite of Chambersburg said."

If you catch the virus then your bodies has already made antibodies against the virus. You wouldn't need the vaccine.

Patty AWESOME link. I found it to be a very informative, balanced and honest view on vaccines. Everyone should watch that.

One of the many excellent points Barb brought up that has always concerned me is how the gov't simply washes their hands on all vaccine reactions/complications from the vaccine ie GBS, autism and even children that have become paralyzed, comatosed or died due to the vaccine.(check out the HPV vaccine)
The gov't did eventually compensate the families that had GBS due to the 1970's swine vaccine, but it took years of fighting.
Barb states:

"Why the suffering of the people that have had complications with the vaccine, who weren't taken seriously by gov't officials who were basically dismissing these complications as being either the price of doing business or some people are expendable for the greater good or the fact that there is great denial in the connection of what was happening in connection with the vaccination. The "what must not be, can not be attitude" - when something bad happens after vaccinations, it couldn't possibly be due to the vaccine or if it does happen, well, it is so rare that some can be sacrificed for the rest."

Take a telephone survey. That way you're sure to get maybe 20, 30 folks who have telephones. Remember, YOU'RE in Franklin County

Don't you remember back in the 80's when all of those Amish children were getting polio because they did not take vaccines? None of the kids in my school had it because we had been VACCINATED. It's not that I am not skeptical about the industry but sometimes it is a good idea. The H1N1 has already made its way through Colorado so most of us have the antibodies. Research on it and then decide.

Why does this Public Opinion writer state that the swine flu vaccine is for the very young and the elderly when everything I have been hearing (including from my doctor) indicates that this one is not for the elderly because they have been shown to have some immunity to it? Even the reports on television report that it has not been hitting the elderly.

I never look at a newspaper article as a credible source. I look at it as a starting point for further research.

The elderly, with underlying medical conditions, are dying in relatively the same numbers as all other age groups, according to my H1N1 alerts.

I have not found any statistics on infection by age groups. The CDC is warning that the young and the old are most susceptible. By the number of school and university closings, I don't see this as meaningful. H1N1 is highly contagious, but currently not highly dangerous. There are many cases of deaths with no underlying medical conditions, but most deaths have underlying illness.

My advice would be to stay away from crowds this winter. Avoid the herding instinct. Be a maverick. Shop from home. Cabin fever is better than flu fever.

The swine flu is being over-rated by the Obama Admin in order to create a "false" pandemic so they can push their "insurance" package through. How many of you actually know someone who has had the swine flu, not heard of, not what you read about, I'm talking about someone you actually know who has actually had swine flu?

According to the CDC, approximately 36,000 people in the US die annually from the seasonal flu. How many people have died from this pandemic? Keep in mind the CDC is no longer requiring that swine flu cases be reported. So are all flu deaths this flu season just being considered swine flu?

If swine flu is so pandemic then why aren't people in third world countries dying by the thousands? They do not have the access to medical care that developed countries do. Surely the Red Cross and other humanitarian agencies would be reporting on this if there actually is a "pandemic".

Actually, the Cumberland Valley is the test area for Swine flu vaccine. If you pigs don't die, it's OK for the Rest of humanity!!

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Scorpio

Something about your personality or appearance is drawing a lot of attention today, Scorpio. People insist on watching when you'd rather that they minded their own business. Your stubborn streak at a time when flexibility would be easier. Be kind to those with long memories, especially if you think you might run into them again at some point in your life. If you can't think of anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
