In January, I was pulled over for a stupid traffic violation that nobody ever obeys...anyway, when my license was run, the officer told me that I had a warrant for failure to appear and that I had no bond so she had to take me to jail. This was on a Monday night. I had to either pay a $5,000 cash bond or stay there until court on Wednesday...when I arrived at the jail, I was told that I had to pay $1,500 to bond out...I called a bondsman and the story that he got was that I could bond out for only 10%($150) NOT $5,000 and NOT $1,500...I wasn't going to pay anything because I knew that I DID NOT BELONG THERE AND HAD DONE NOTHING WRONG....the conditions inside were horrible..it was my time of the month and I was told I had to shower and put on a jumpsuit, that I was not allowed to keep my underwear and my requests for a sanitary napkin were ignored....I bled into my jumpsuit until I was able to get to the holding area where I used toilet paper until one of the other inmates gave me a sanitary napkin....the food was inedible...there was another inmate who was obviously mentally ill and scared the hell out of several of us...she had been violent with the guards and yet they put her in there with us......FINALLY I went to court and was told the following: YOUR FTA WAS DISMISSED IN OCTOBER (4 MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS DATE) AND YOU ARE FREE TO GO!!!!!!!!!! I was arrested because someone was so incompetent that instead of putting into the system that I HAD PAID MY FINE THEREFORE DID NOT HAVE TO GO TOU COURT....they simply entered information that I had not appeared in court...FAulkner County is the most screwed up system I have ever had the misfortune to witness and I am sooooo glad that I no longer reside anywhere close to Conway or Faulkner County!

This is true however if there are that many complaints it should be looked into. As far as the officers/law it (in some places) should be looked into too. Not all in law enforcement are honest either.

Do people in Keller, TX really think like you? You seem to be completely one sided and fail to understand human rights. The system we have isn't perfect nor are you so yes those in jail could be there for the wrong reasons. I think "Get A Life" should do just that.....

That's crazy. Yes, he did something that consequented in him not being able to see them in person, and he's well aware of that. But the least they could do since they act as if they can't take him to court is let him recieve pictures. I just can't wait until he gets out. Because I heard they beat the inmates to a bloody pulp and the food they give them, a dog wouldn't even eat. Mistreating the inmates is a selfish and unjustly act. Punishement was the sentencing and time their supppose to do. Not what goes on in the jail house. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE. I know just how you feel I am 6 months pregnate and have not seen my husband since feb. and he is in faulkner county for something stupid and they want to give him 6 years and they are letting people who would kill you or rape your babys out and all of the people that would really hurt you and yet my husband was caught joyriding and it's 6 years for that how stupid can people be?????????

The food is ridiculous! I know for a fact that ANY corectional officer would not eat what an inmate is given to eat..or at least they wouldn't want to. The officers, both correctional and police, put forth an image of pure prejudice and are completely rude! I have a loved one who is locked up for probation violation. A non-violent crime. He didn't even do anything..just did not report to the probation officer. The judge sentenced him 48 mos. RPF! Even one of the few nice correctional officers agreed tha that was ludicrous! A majority of the people I have come in contact with in Faulkner County have been very rude and unhelpful! The whole system is messed up! They treat them like animals in there. I've called the prosecuting attourney, circuit judges, probation officers, correctional facilities, and police stations on numerous occassions seeking just a little bit of information....NOTHING! Again...rude! I know people who have violated probation with drug charges and were only sentenced 6 mos! In most cases that is the sentencing! I walked into a courtroom full of white people to support my loved one and the room grew quiet IMMEDIATELY when I entered. How does that make a person feel? This is not the slavery days! I am not justifying the fact that my loved one did do something to deserve to be on probation and he did violate his probation BUT a non-violent crime! You are holding someone in custody for that when the ones who are killing and stealing everyday for fun are the ones you release and display mercy on? This issue has truly disgusted me in every manner and I will remain persistent with this matter until something is done about it! I know just how you feel my husband was locked up for probation violation for not reporting and we live all the way up in doniphan missouri and they would not transfer his probation for nothing it's like no matter what you do you are going to fuck up because every thing you do is not good enough for them and my husband is facing a 6 year sentencing over this and we have a baby on the way. He said that the gaurds down there are plain rude and they don't even try to be nice to anyone. He has been locked up there since febuary and he didn't get to go to court until april 9th and they sentenced him now he is waiting to be sent to prison and the gaurds can't even tell him if he is going to go this month or even at all, with the prisons being so full, they have been talking about keeping him there for his whole 6 years in the county jail.

I think the Faulkner County jail is FUCKED UP IN THERE SYSTEM....No one should have to be treated the way the prisoners are treated down there. It's like the gaurds don't even care if the loved on of the prisoner knows anything. How would they like it if they was to get locked up and couldn't see their loved ones and family and friends. i mean all this probation violation crap is a joke any way it is not like it is something life threatening or anything. I am 6 mos. pregnate and my husband won't even be here when our first baby girl will be born. And the so called cops down in faulkner county don't even care about the people or they would be letting the people that really wouldn't hurt anyone out of the jail instead of the people who are getting locked up for murder and rape. But no they would rather the baby rapers and murders out on the street, so parents have to wonder weather or not their children will be safe that day or not..........I THINK THAT IF YOU ARE ONLY LOCKED UP FOR PROBATION VIOLATION THEN THEY NEED TO LET YOU HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE AND GO AFTER THE REAL CRIMIALS!!!!!!!!!!

I will have to take up for most of the officers that work at the Faulkner County Jails. They are overworked, underpaid, and are not trained for there jobs. They are crazy for hiring 18 yr. old to do this type of work. Eventhough they have more compassion for the loved ones than the people that have been there for awhile. I know there is wrong doing in both of the jails in Faulkner County, but until we get a sheriff in there that takes there job serious, I don't know what we can do. As far as the time that people have to serve, you need to go after the judges. They are the ones that set how long a person stays.

I was an officer for the jail for a long time, and some of these posts im reading are funny on how far they bend from the truth. The truth is that a lot of the inmates actually like the officers. I still see former inmates in town and they just say hi or shake my hand. As for the food, at least every other day I would eat the same thing as the inmates, because guess what.. ITS FREE for us and the inmates as well. They get 2400-2700 calories a day. They actually get $40 a day on their fines for eating this food and sleeping all day. Also the temperature is set at a constant 72 degrees, the 50 degrees myth isnt true. Basically, everything is strict for everyones safety. Ive found shanks, lighters, drugs... you name it... if you want your loved ones safe you would want it strict... if not then their would be a large number of in custody deaths....

Robert Barber wrote: Why is it that I have a daughter in the Faulkner County Jail that is less than 3 miles from my house, but I have to pay a freaking company out of Lousiana to have her make a collect call to me? Am I missing the point here? I know she broke the law, and is serving her time, but why am I paying someone OUT OF STATE to have her call me from 2 MILES away. It is crap, I am already having to pay for the call, now the price is getting jacked up even more, there is seriously something wrong with this. I have been exactly where you are actually I have been on both sides of the fence. Anyway I know that inmates in prison facilities can now get prepaid calling cards to call home, I'm not sure who you would contact to see if county inmates can also use prepaid cards but it would be worth checking out.

phone cards are $23 and they can order as many as they want once a week.... and it is totally like giving candy to a kid... they get one spend all day on the phone, blowing it in one day.... usually on a girlfriend instead of the family member that put the money on their books in the first place...

where do I begin, My sister in law was in FCSO for 2 and a half months, and just recently went to RPF for the 9 month program. Now let this one freak you guys out...I am currently on the list to work in the jail where she was. Yea i know there are a few things there that are not what one would say just peachy with a white fence and pretty white shutters around it. But like a few people saying these comments have said...its jail! Its not suppose to be an easy ride and people go out of their way to make a stop to visit the jail. Yea i do believe that some who have unpaid fines tickets etc do get treated like the "criminals" and yea I would say its a little uncalled for. My mother-in-law was put in there last year for unpaid fines etc. She didnt have the money to get her license or insurance for her vehicle. She had to work to pay bills and hey you gotta eat. And sometimes she just wouldnt save enough money to pay those fines. Well needless to say I do see both sides the inmates that are treated unfairly or things happen like strip searches in front of the oppisite sex is not allowed but has happened. But those officers in there get told things some people would never imagine. Like the inmate is going to kill their family or through there feces at them etc, you name it. There are a choice few that make a difference and there are some who yes have no buisness in there. But like i said jail is not supposed to be liked. People who go there are not supposed to want to come back. Honestly think about the mother who has to live every day knowing her child was raped molested or killed and the person that did it is just having a jolly ole' time in jail...honestly...how would you feel?

I was arrested for a DWI last weekend, and even though the arresting officer said I was the most cooperative/nicest arrest he'd ever made, it doesn't make a difference inside. I was stuck in the felon tank with six other guys who all seemed quite comfortable inside. Comfortable, meaning, used to being there, not as in actual comfort. The food wasn't horrible, but I was only there for one meal. The stories about blankets, mats, and the temp in the cells are very accurate. It was cold, cold, cold, which, for those that don't know much about psychology, makes the time go by MUCH slower. My main problem with the place was the lack of competence in their processes. I was told I could not make a call for 12 hours, but there was a phone in the cell. Once time came for me to call a bondsman, I had no phone book, and could only call landlines. I guess I could have called PapaJohns...they're the only landline I have memorized. Luckily, the lifers in there with me, had the bondsmen #s down pat. I was also concerned about my personal belongings, as they made me sign a piece of paper stating that all my items had been returned to me before they would even let me see my stuff to make sure it was all there. I was told any cash I had would be mailed to me the next day, and it still has not arrived. The guards there were complete assholes. Some more than others, but I guess they have to be to deal with some of the folks that get put in there. It's not really a place where you can safely make distinctions between a career criminal, and someone who just made a silly mistake with no other priors whatsoever. Needless to say, I have no desire to ever go back there, nor to any other jail, and to avoid any problems like I, or anyone else has expressed in this thread, I suggest to STOP BREAKIN THE LAW, ASSHOLE! I'm now the official DD for anyone who needs a ride.

Did it ever cross your mind that these inmates are someone's son, husband, father, uncle, cousin, best friend, sister, mom, daughter, aunt, or even just a human? Obviously you are a very ignorant person that doesn't have a clue about life and treating someone humanely. Until you have been where this people are or have walked one minute in their shoes please just keep your ignorant comments to yourself. And I will be praying for you.
