It is difficult to tell from the photo but the pearl appears to be a light lavender one, and of decent size.
The value of a quahog pearl depends heavily on the color, shape and size. The color of a quahog will range from white to a deep purple. The photo shows a light lavender. The size can range between a few millimeters to as large as 20 mm. The one in the photo appears to be in the 9-10 mm range. The shape of most quahogs is button. Rounds are extremely rare. I assume the one in the photo is button but it is impossible to tell from the photo. In the wholesale range I would estimate the pearl may fetch $3-500. Retail it may go for quite a bit more. The first thing I see in the picture, courtesy of AP, is the finger. Initial thought was that old news on biting a meal with a finger. Lucky for this couple its now a charm to put on a finger.

The first thing I noticed... while it was the husband who found the pearl, it is the wife who has it!!!! You go girl!
