Being friends with your ex...ok or NOT ok?

The girl who I've been dating for 2 years now still keeps in touch with her ex. He lives in a different state, but I know she talks to him on a weekly bases. I have asked her why this is so important and she says they are just good friends. They dated years ago and I just don't get the whole thing. She also has pictures in a box of the two of them together and pictures of just him. Wouldn't you think she would have destroyed all of them? Why is she keeping pictures from her past when she tells me she loves me and wants to have a future with me? I mean, he's an ex for a reason right?
Maybe I'm wrong, but the past needs to remain in the past.

Thoughts on how to deal with this?

Dump her...she's obviously carrying around feelings for her ex. If she won't stop talking to him and she knows this bothers you, she's not considering your feelings. Move on...no one needs the past in a current relationship man.

If you have been dating her for two years then it sounds like you have already decided to live with it. You posted here because you subconsciously needed people to tell you to dump her. You already knew before you posted that the only answer is to cut your ties. It's more about her not having any respect for you than it is about her possibly having a long distance relationship with her ex. You have waited it out for 2 years and it hasn't got any better. Save yourself.

Joe, she's setting you up to be a Cuckhold.
She'll find a "reason" to go on a vacation by herself or allegedly with her friends. And guess what, that dude will be there.
How would she react if you were all chatty with one of your ex-girlfriends. If she'd get upset, then it's a sign of her intentions of cheating, because they tend to lash out to cover up their guilt.

Does she take these pics out of the box often or are they put in the attic. Try putting the box in storage w/out telling her and see how she reacts.

Are you 2 living together or live separately? Also, I'll guarentee they are Facebook friends and she has a secret email account where they send each other nekkid pics.

RESPECT!!!! That's what it's all about. I would NEVER continue dating a guy who kept pictures of his ex or talked to her weekly. There is just something wrong with that.
If you can't say goodbye to your past, you have no right saying hello to a future with someone else.

I have to agree with the RESPECT posts on this board. In every relationship that is what it's all about. I was with a girl for a very short period of time that had tons of nekkid pics of old flings saved on her computer and when I asked her about it she said it wasn't a big deal....It was for me...bye bye!!!

If a guy or girl continues on with an ex... It's just plain trouble. If they have pics of them or anyone else anywhere, run- fast!!!
These are the kinds of things that ruin relationships forever!!! If I ever found out my husband had pictures of other girls either on the computer or his phone, I would be so hurt and disappointed. It's rude and totally disrespectful. Also, all trust would be broken.

If you have trust in your relationship, none of this should worry you. Also, maybe you should keep some pics of your old GF's... Hey what they don't know wont hurt em. I have a folder of pics that my girl knows nothing about. As long as I'm not doing anything with these girls... What's the difference if I look?

Advice to anyone.... Been there, done that. You can't just be friends with an ex!! One day your ex gets dumped by her BF and you're getting nude pics from her again...don't ruin your current relationship for an ex... It's NOT worth it!
Stay away from the ex and I cautious anyone who's in this type of situation to get the he'll out!!!
