What is the history of Negro hill

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about it

I heard of a black man being hanged there. Don't know when tho

I've heard the same. I recall my dad mentioning it in the past. I'll have to ask him about it.

They say that's why all the Elm trees died out.

Alot of crazt stuff has went on in these old hollers. Imagine all the storys these hills have to hide

The original story is that a Black man raped a white woman way, way back in the day. They hanged him on that hill. The old story is that when the moon was full you could look a certain way up through the trees and see a figure (him) hanging there. The trees have been cut and the land mined etc... since those days though.

On St. Rt.784 what they call Three Prong it on the Greenup County and Lewis County line. It is know none as Dummitt Ridge I think.

There must be two then I know the hill in greenup I don't like that curvy thing one bit but I didn't know if that was the hill everyone was talking about and dummitt ridge is to the left at the top of the hill

It's up the left fork of Stinson rd . The hill past campbells old paylake. It's not in greenup.

I have lived here on "ni__er gallus" my whole life. Sorry for the quotes, but thats what it has always been called. Your story is the same one told to me many times over the last 30years. They hung him by his galluses. I also heard he was innocent, but because he was black, he got the blame. So sad, if this is true. But, it is a very spookey place to be at late at night. It is up the left hand fork of Stinson, past the old pay lake at the top of the hill on the left. Thats where I was always told it took place.

Does anyone know when it happened or his name? Thanks

No it isn't. The hill and legend in question is in Carter County as given in the directions posted by Nick, Friend, and Shelly.
