Sounds like a nice school--they probably teach the kids something. Bet they do it for a lot less than the $16,000 per student per year the St. Paul public schools spend to achieve a 50% drop-out rate.

Penmanship is something that sticks with youth, probably one of the most important thing in society that is needed to advance to greater thing, that and reading. To you Red Ryder, perhaps you yourself could use some penmanship classes before writing the word 'nuthin' I'm sure alot of people cannot recite "An Inconvenient Truth." Ignorance is not bliss, its just ignorance.

As a former member of Christ's Household of Faith, I feel after reading this it should be know what an awful place it truly is. The teachers use manipulation and threats to get the kids to do what they want. You are told you are worthless, you are told that you are going to hell unless you give everything to "Donald Alsbury's god". You are told from very young ages that you were dead in the womb, and unless you dedicate your life to the 'church' which is by every definition a cult, you will never redeem yourself. You honestly cannot know this without being a part of the community. I was my whole life until i recently found the courage to leave. It truly has been the hardest thing I have ever done, I had to leave EVERYTHING I knew, my family will have nothing to do with me. People do interviews on CHOF all the time, but unless you are there, you cannot know what an awful place it is. I may be only 15, but I am telling you now, something has to be done. If you are in chof, you are not allowed to speak up and speak out, and if you are outside of chof, you cannot possible imagine what is going on inside there. So you must listen to me. Something has to be done. People's lives are being ruined by CHOF. Please. Please.

It IS a cult and officials need to do something. Maybe start by interviewing former members.

I remember growing up in Mora, MN and when the alsbury group began.....there were many stories of children "having the devil beat out of them" and of wives and children trying to leave only to be chased down with a helicopter.....it was pretty scarey, I was pretty young

I have been researching this group, and I believe everything your still fear riden comments mentions. I have read articles by the Star Tribune of members that have left, and you are absolutely right. Here in MN we need to send the message that we do not allow our children to be abused into submission to break their will. You need to contact an advocacy group like "Windows" or something, and you must have facts and stick to them. Although it is emotional, and tragic, you have to help the others see that they can leave if they want! There is hope to getting out. I only hope if Alsbury isn't convicted here on earth, that he will soon meet his maker! I do not want to be a mouse in that corner when he must account for his life!

The horrible stories I have heard from young people that have survived and escaped this cult are unbelievable. This "religous" group should not be in existence. There are good people trapped there and we need to support anyone that can find their way to freedom. I know kids that have lived on the streets rather than be subjected to the physical abuse that is prevalant in CHOF. Minnesota stands for freedom!!

I have been looking in from the outside and see a different view. I do not belive in beating children either, How many children in regular social settings are removed from home compared to CHOF? The people of CHOF are free to go where they want, they live in houses down the street and make really good friends. They take good care of the places they live, no foreclosure problem there. The bills are paid and they eat good. Look at MN waiting children on the internet, none are from CHOF. I see people all over the twin cities slapping a childs hand and making them subserviant to their parents, and in turn I bet they follow the teaching of their Pastor as well. They also have many business ventures in this city that seem to thrive. People with ill intentions do not thrive to such a high place in life. If anyone anywhere is being abused they need to make a report to the local county protective agency. If they find abuse it will be delt with according to the letter of the Law. A 15 year old with a rant should be investagated, if she finds no help from the county then she must not have a problem other than following her parents wishes, and the law says she should follow her parents rules.

The person above is obviously from CHOF, justifying whats being done. It all depends on your view point I guess...

nobody understands. We are here by choice. If I wanted to, I could leave, no one would stop me, but I won't because I believe in everything that is taught here. We are supposed to give everything to God because He has written it in the commandments. You can think whatever you want about CHOF, but you can not think that we are forced to do anything.

Poor Darian...it's kind of hard to say that without speaking from experience, you've never actually TRIED to leave...and until you do, you wouldn't be able to say how much you are/aren't forced to be there. It may not seem like you are being held there, but when CHOF is everything you have, and know, it's kind of hard to just leave, even if you know you wanna... In CHOF, you are in now way prepared for life outside of the church, on purpose. Luckily, most of us manage...and are loving it out here

God, this is so annoying....
This is why the internet sucks. Because stupid people like Darian (yes i know him and yes, Darian, you are stupid) get the chance to flaunt their half baked ideals. But also because a 15 YEAR OLD who thinks they've seen everything can pass judgement on something thats been around for over 40 YEARS. If you left it, leave it completely. Stop turning around to throw more rocks at the windows. And Darian, be ashamed of yourself. The whole point is to be able to just take the abuse, and not feel the need to defend yourself against other people who are not very bright. And Darian, yes, we were forced to do it. Maybe you'll realize it someday. Maybe it's ingrained too deeply. You'll find out.

Don Alsbury is a drunk who knows what a sham his life is. It is a shame that he is keeping his realization from his congregation. He must know by now that he has wasted his life and the lives of all who follow him.

A friend of mine was in CHOF as a child and most of the abuse u read is real. It is definetly a cult and someone should help the children get out of there. It is brainwashing.

I notice this joker says nothing about the FACT they beat babies and children until they passed out from the abuse. Or the fact that they DID ambush mothers trying to take their kids away from CHOF by cutting phone lines and holding the mother down as they took the children. The same mother who is still trying to get child support from CHOF 20 yrs later for the children she was able to keep. As a former member the abuse, physical, mental and sexual is rife in CHOF.

there is no need to worry much longer... how old is Don? he is close to death and when he croaks there will be no one to claim his throne. his own son knows he is a fool and has nothing to do with him and his sick games. just pray for those lost minds still there... and pray for those who have left. they need all the help they can get. no one ever recovers from the damage that place inflicts. even children of the people long gone now are still feeling the pressure of don over them. it never leaves your mind and your life once you have become a part of something so evil and brainwashing. i just hope that they wake up in there and start to take action against the crimes of Don Alsbury.
