There is never anything going on in Grantville unless it is sponsored by Nick's or Nick's name is mentioned...unless...it is an event put on by the other side...then not one word is mentioned. Nick and Kim have destroyed Grantville. The last Calico Christmas that I went to was 2 yrs. ago and it was a disaster. Someone needs to find out where, if any, the money is going that has been made. Sure hasn't been going for the betterment of Grantville....Oh, but wait, maybe a better Pizza? Nag...Oh, wait, Maybe a new pair of sweats....nag, Oh, wait, maybe a new pair of shorts....nag, Oh wait...maybe some Cashmere soap...nag....Just where has it gone???? Kim has every right to promote her business. Calico Christmas was always a Nick's Pizza event, paid for by Nick's Pizza. Last year the City did something and Calico Christmas was cancelled to not compete. Kim and Nick have never gotten credit for all the stuff they have done for the City on their dime, not the City's. The website that so many have complained doesn't tell about other businesses, Nick's owns that site, not the City. Anyone lucky enough to get mentioned on the site is there on a site paid for only by Nick's, not the City. Why then are they not allowed to promote their business when they provide the energy behind the event and the money to put it on? Hate is not attractive. All this hate over the promotion of Nick's is ridiculous. Grow up and put your energy into something constructive.

Calico Christmas has not always been a Nick's Pizza event..what an idiot. And as far as the money, a lot of it was raised for advertisments by business owners and others. It started out as an Grantville event...it may had ended up as a Nick's Pizza event cause Kim has burned every bridge she has crossed and nobody wants to have anything to do with her. Man...go back to bed. You been eating too much of that nasty pizza.

Show me where the City has sponsored Calico Christmas or any other event that the Nick's has funded. Which year and where was it held. Please fill in the blanks, not just tell me I am crazy. I do not care what they look like, just tell me where they are wrong in what they have done.

The first ever Calico Christmas was in 2005 and was a venture of all the businesses in Grantville. Kim and Nick were members of the Grantville Business Group and she headed up the Calico Christmas. Along with Kim and many other VOLUNTEERS who gave their TIME and MONIES it ended up being the best Calico Christmas that was ever held. It was on Saturday and Sunday. The Palmers DONATED the Bonnie Castle for Santa to sit in and the children to have their pictures for FREE by a local photographer, Debra Smith. Hot drinks and snacks that were DONATED by the ladies who VOLUNTEERD to be at the Bonnie Castle during this time were served. The Depot was turned into a "Merry Mart" where all kinds of vendors were there to sell their goods. A local business man DONATED his tractor to pull the train around that a Luthersville businessman DONATED. There was a VOLUNTEER in the Bonnie Castle to tell stories. On Sunday there was a tour of homes and tickets were sold for $10.00 a ticket and was SPONSORED by the Grantville Historic Perservation Commission.
On Saturday night, Nick and Kim had a "Calico Banquet" for the first 25 people to make reservations and CHARGED $25.00 per person.
The next time you go tooting the Sasso's horn, make sure you got the song right.

Spit it out. Do you object the the Banquet? You have to admit that it would have been alot harder for all those vendors to have to cough up a four course dinner for free. None of them, including Nick could afford that and you know it. Do you object to her work? YOu do know that the HPC money collected went to the Grantville Auditorium Restoration, not to Kim or the Palmers. Are you suggesting she stole money? Are you suggesting she should not have promoted her business at the Business Association Event? What have you done lately to promote your community? Did you get complements or grief for it?

I don't know what JLS is saying either. They should have donated a three course dinner and paid the kitchen staff? I was at that dinner. Nobody was forced to attend and all knew that the money would go to pay for the dinner etc. There was no cover up. Stephanie, give us an answer. I am glad to see more than myself in the dark.

OK, Y'ALL READ VERY SLOWLY....IN THIS POST NEXTELECTION SAID THAT CALICO CHRISTMAS WAS A NICK AND KIM EVENT AND PUT ALL THEIR MONEY INTO IT. HE MADE IT SOUND LIKE IT WAS THEM AND THEM ALONG. ALL JLS DID WAS POINT OUT THAT IT WAS PUT ON BY A LOT OF VOLUNTEERS AND DONATIONS AND THAT THEY WERE THE ONLY ONES WHO TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE EVENT AND CHARGED EVERYBODY FOR A PIECE OF MEAT AND GRUL. I GOT IT....HOPE YOU DO TOO NOW THAT YOU HAVE READ THIS VERY VERY SLOW.

They showcased their business. You are correct that I forgot about the first year. I think that was the only year the GBA did the event. Could be wrong, but the City never sponsored it as was suggested.

I believe it was said "Grantville Event" Nothing was said about being sponsored by the "City of Grantville"...there's a difference.

Please re-read JLS's correction of my post. Grantville Business event. Where you showcase your businesses. So, I ask, what is so wrong with the Banquet?

It is time for this grifter Starnes to leave Georgia. I still can't believe that NO RESPONSIBLE person in the Grantville city government did a complete and comprehensive pre-emplyment background check on Starnes. Starnes even stated in an earlier interview with a reporter the "he (Starnes) was atomic on the internet and no one would touch him!". Grantville City Council did-what a bunch of irresponsible elected government officials! I need help from my brothers and sisters in Texas. Please send me links and contacts for the two human relations employees that Starnes wrongfully terminated or witnesses to his false resumes and employment information. Starnes is already violating Georgia State law here and he is going to make the Grantville City Officials complete fools when this pops loose... Please add to my package and advanced appreciation is sent out to all. Wow. You obviously have nothing better to do than spend 3 weeks looking up stuff about him. I think you should get a life and go somewhere for a change. Stop obsessing over one man and get over it. I agree, he's done some pretty bad things and maybe he'll never stop, but it's not your concern. You need to leave things be. Stop trying to convince people that he's a bad man. They can believe what they want to, and in time they can figure it out for themselves.

Hypothetically, if we want to cut spending... and give our services to the county... and the cost is the same..... see what I mean? With homes and businesses in Grantville depending on police support.... exactly how much longer do you think it will take for a county car to respond? Grantville PD is local, so the response time would be less. A plus if you ask me. I don't get it. What exactly is the reason for taking the PD/City services/employees jobs away and giving them to the county? I still say the smartest thing the state could do is take the city's charter away and abolish the entire mess.
