Glen (Scott) Starnes was the City manager for Eagle Pass, Texas, Maverick County earning a pretty lucrative salary. He was terminated after being arrested for false information on his resume. In his application for employment he identified having several degrees. Later it was found out he bought the fake degrees from a computer on line company and had never really attended nor been to any university nor earned any degrees. He claimed the requirements were that he have a degree not that the degree needed to be from an academially licensed university or college. WATCH OUT1 HE IS PRETTY CLEVER!

This information is untrue and incorrect in June of 08 the State of Texas cleared and exonerated me of all of these accusations, however, Ms. Diaz a convicted criminal, will try anything to ruin my reputation. I have notified my legal counsel to address this with her. She is a citizen of Eagle Pass with a reputation of being a liar and a thief.

If ANY citizen of Grantville would like to discuss this with me I would be happy to show them the legal documents exonerating me of these baseless attacks. Please feel free to contact me.

I would like to comment to Ms.Diaz's post. I have never met her but I have met with Mr. Starnes and I want to ease everyones' concerns and say that I beleive 100% that he has Grantville's best interest at heart. He is a very talented man and I believe he will help point all the city's departments in the right direction. From Mr. Starnes recent actions and words, he has proven he is the right person for the position of our City Manager.

I want to thank Mr. Starnes for choosing Grantville to relocate to. It has been a privelage getting to know you.

I would just like to say that we all have had things in our lives that someone has twisted and turned to their advantage, and if Mr Starnes were not doing something right in his new position as city manager then why do so many people here in the City support him. Personally, I do not care about his past. I care about the City of Grantville's future. He is a good moral man, who wants to help this city and it's citizens and he has only been here 35 days and I feel people should give him a chance based on what he does here not someone's opinion that is more than likely tainted due to where he stood on an issue.
I am so glad he is here!!!!!!!!
Oh please-Get a Life

Tell you what Ms. Diaz, why don't you let us make our own decisions and conclusions about Mr. Starnes and you go back to living your life and not worrying about him any longer; after all you don't really need to concern yourself with him now since he lives in Georgia. I have gotten to know Mr. Starnes and I will agree with you on one issue, he is clever, matter of fact, he is very clever. This man has got his act together and that is EXACTLY what Grantville needs at this point.
I personally want to Welcome Scott Starnes to Grantville and advise you Ms. Diaz that we Georgians are loyal to those that we belive in, and we believe in Scott Starnes!
So we appreciate your concern Ms.Diaz, but at this time, it's not wanted or needed.

To the Citizen's of Grantville;
As the Chief of Police I would like to assure all of the Citizen's here that I conducted the background investigation prior to Mr. Starnes employment. I found NOTHING to indicate that Mr. Starnes was worthy of the position. In fact every reference and employer had great things to say about him. I believe that Mr. Starnes is the answer to a lot of problems in the City of Grantville. Mr. Starnes accepyed this position becuase of his sense of duty and has been met with nothing short of opposition. He has worked effortlessly to upright this City and get on the right track. So to those poeple in Texas who wish to bash his good name I say, "It's your loss and our gain"!

You must not have access to the internet or a phone in which to make your background investigation. A google search would produce pages of unethical and questionable conduct Starnes has committed. Official Court documents (Maverick County Clerk of Court Case # 20851) indicated that Starnes plead guilty to his criminal charge and paid a $1500 fine $264 in court costs.

Grantville will always be the laughing stock of Coweta County because of the leaders its council puts into place. Grantville should have hired a professional firm in its recruitment of a City Manager so that incidents like this do not come back to haunt them.

I would praise him to Chief because he signs your check!

Ms. Diaz,

Mr. Starnes won't last long here. Starnes will never let his past ways go. It is bred into him and he will not survive in Grantville. Of course, Grantvilles leaders and council are about thirty years behind current times in dealings with morals and ethics.

Mr. Starnes should release the findings of the TWC report to the local paper here and let them print it if he was cleared of his charges!

I would like to encourage people to check out Mr. Starnes file. Most of his references did not return phone calls to the wonderful chief of police. The chief and the city manager should get alone real well.

All I can say is Texas is better off without the man, I am sorry the folks in Grantville fell for his stories. You would think governments - even small town - could look the man up on the Internet and find out he is a liar. Looks like he will keep on moving as long as there are suckers who will take him in. Get rid of him Grantville!!

Oh, by the way, want to see how much this guy LOVES Grantville GA? Go here http://www.tradingmarkets.com/.site/news/Stoc... and you'll see he has an application it to the City of San Benito TX for City Manager...

Are you on your way back to Texas Glen, er, Scott? San Benito does not want you, nor does the state. Texas does not recognized on-line college degrees bought for $599.00 each as qualification.

Read this:

http://dumbassesingovernment.blogspot.com/200...

Chief of Police (if that's really you): Of course his references check out. Why would someone list a reference who would speak ill of the applicant?

Complete background check? You're kidding, right? You're really Starnes, right?

I been digging up stuff on Starnes for three weeks now and am just about ready to unload it on all of the area newspapers, local radio stations, law enforcement agencies, and to all of the tv stations in Atlanta.

It is time for this grifter Starnes to leave Georgia. I still can't believe that NO RESPONSIBLE person in the Grantville city government did a complete and comprehensive pre-emplyment background check on Starnes. Starnes even stated in an earlier interview with a reporter the "he (Starnes) was atomic on the internet and no one would touch him!". Grantville City Council did-what a bunch of irresponsible elected government officials!

I need help from my brothers and sisters in Texas. Please send me links and contacts for the two human relations employees that Starnes wrongfully terminated or witnesses to his false resumes and employment information.

Starnes is already violating Georgia State law here and he is going to make the Grantville City Officials complete fools when this pops loose...

Please add to my package and advanced appreciation is sent out to all.

Starnes has jumped in bed with the Grantville Police Chief Franklin Allen-what Allen doesn't know during his "so-called background" check is that Starnes pulled the Eagle Pass police chief down with him by getting the chief to sneak him out the back door while the Maverick County SO was coming in hte front door!

Talk about corruption!

Grantville ain't seen nothing yet until this traveller gets into the check book and money coffers there!

I bet old Dr. Starnes has a really low credit score also. Starnes can't truthfully and honestly manage his own personal life and business/money affairs much less a city such as Grantville.

The police chief in Grantville should also be sacked for not performing to the maximum of his abilities in securing certified and accurate evidence on Starnes. The chiefs inabilities to use a telephone, fax, internet, United States Postal Service, NCIC terminal for drivers history and criminal history, a credit bureau here in town to perform a Starnes personal credit history, and the added security of using a professional firm to follow up on any of his findings. Did you check to see if old Dr. Starnes was caught up on his child support there Chief Allen?!

I bet that Jagquar old Dr. Starnes is driving probably has a current repo order out on it! I would further state that it doesnt have valid insurance nor does it have a current Georgia License Plate and Georgia Registration (I already checked with the Coweta County Tag Office-it has not been registered here in Georgia). I do believe that is a violation of the Official Code of Georgia Annontated traffic law, isn't it Chief?! You are already in cahoots with Starnes! Why else would he leave the Jagquar parked in his rented house garage and drive that old Chevrolet Tahoe that was confiscated from an African-American drug dealer. I seriously doubt that the license plate ya'll have on there is legal for it to be conducting official city administrative business!

Why ask why? Just two more DUMBASSES IN GOVERNMENT plying their trade!

But wait! There's more! And if fraud isn't enough for you, the dude spent five years at St. Mary's University studying political science - and no freakin' degree! He even admitted it on his resume.

So...Grantville has hired a guy to manage their city who doesn't even have a valid freakin' degree...and who couldn't even GET one in POLITICAL FREAKIN' SCIENCE in five years. WTF people?

I at least have an Associates degree (a real one from an accredited university)...I'm running for president!

I appreciate your info!

I am waiting for a reply from St. Marys as to his time spent there.

I am also obtaining info from the Texas Workforce Commission about Starnes. Starnes will not provide a release to the TWC for his records to be released to the public. Starnes has told several of the council members, employees of Grantville, and citizens in Grantville that he was cleared of all charges in June of this year and is expecting to receive a $600K dollar settlement from Eagle Pass in regards to them firing him. No public official or news reporter is aware of any award coming to Starnes other than the $5K he got when he left Eagle Pass!

Starnes is the epitome of negligent hiring and negligent retention by the City of Grantville.
