I began homeschooling my son toward the end of last school year and will be continuing to do so this year. I was wondering if there are any parents in the area who would be interested in having me home school their boys (around my son's age) so my son (and your sons) would get some interaction with their peers instead of being educated alone - if that makes sense. My son is in the 7th grade and I'm teaching him with the Alpha Omega curriculum which is a Christian-based curriculum.

Have u tried Abeca they are the ones that my daughter uses and she is in the 11th grade. They also are a christian based video. I think that it is wonderful that we as parents can teach our children the things that they need in life. Now days u cant be to careful. Look what happened to that bus driver who was trying to go out with that 17 yr old girl. Public school now days is so unsafe you dont know what they are teaching our children. Keep the faith and I will be praying for you.

I have heard good things about Abeca but I haven't found any place to buy the books locally. The Parent-Teacher store in Cross Lanes sells the ones I use which is normally where I buy my materials. I know what you mean about homeschooling vs public schooling. In addition to what you mentioned, my son was in public school til the end of last year. He had a teacher that started passing out pills to the kids in class. Recently a teacher from Capital High got in trouble for having a sexual relationship with a student. My son was given cigarettes by classmates. His peers had camera phones and were showing him perverted pictures on them. They were totally corrupting him and he fell right into Satan's trap. Homeschooling is much better!

You can order Abeca online that is how I do it I just put it on my credit card. I wish you the best with teaching your child and hang in their. The thing I like about Abeca is that they are video classrooms. My child has a teacher and if they dont understand something the just rewind it and watch it over and they can also do several a week. They really enjoy that because they get out of school alot earlier than public.

with either set of books, you'll end up with wierd kids who can't handle society. good luck

Actually my son was being warped so badly by the public school system that he had to be taken out of that system. He was coming home with cigarettes from other kids. He was being shown pornography on cell phones from his peers. He was learning how to be a lot more disrespectful toward adults. Had he remained in public school much longer, he would probably have ended up on drugs like my brother did when he was in public school years ago. I must be a terrible parent to choose to supervise my child's education and teach him right from wrong.
