I find it disturbing that the insurance company's actions are "perfectly legal"....

This doesn't sound quite right and brings to mind an article I recently read. The article was about a website called Change.org and deals with starting petitions for "change." For instance Bank of America was considering a $5 monthly fee for debit card users. A petition started on Change.org got about 300,000 signatures in one month and attracted a lot of media attention. B of A backed down and the $5 fee never happened. Then the same petitioner started another against Verizon for a fee they were considering and this petition got about 100,000 signatures in one day and the fee never happened. The article was in Time magazine about a month ago. I'm not sure about insurance companies reacting to petitions but I can think of a few reasons to want to petition them and your situation would be one of them.

That is an interesting idea.
(I recall signing the BoA petition, despite not having an account with that terror of a bank.)
Also helps to utilize facebook and twitter.

Well done, sh.

Yep, insurance companies suck now days. I know a few people that after filing a claim on thier home and autos State Farm and other insurance companies dropped them. I am afraid to file a claim for my hail damage on my new car, cause I might need insurance in case an (heaven forbid)actual accident happened and I needed insurance to cover the other person. Real shame when you pay for something and are afraid to use it.

damn...

either there is quite a bit more to this story..or the insurance companies simply have black listed this guy...

what polley needs to do is talk to all of his neighbors...

if he had damage, they would have as well...

he can use his findings and also what his neighbor's insurance companies have done...

the insurance companies do look at the surrounding neighbors when it comes to storm damage claims...
