Construction at the high school

I would love to know where the money for all this construction on the high school is coming from.I think money would be better spent on the students and their education.

It's coming from taxes zeke..it keeps us from walking out in the snow and rain. Sorry you don't think our health is important.

Is that what their doing? I've been wondering everytime I drive past the school.

there was a gag order placed on her case when the old teacher or whatever he was had sex with her...

part of the settlement was a new hall to be added to the school in holly's honor...

no idea what the purpose of the hall will be..maybe to showcase more trophies from GCHS awesome sports teams?

If it is indeed from our taxes then I'm pissed.I think the school could buy some new books or computers.Maybe buy some better food. Something besides what they are doing.It doesn't really matter how "nice" the school looks if you have a bunch of under-educated kids coming out of it.

Zeke, if indeed you pay taxes, you would know that taxes for building improvements are seperate from those for education purposes. Have your mom show you if you're not sure. If you think it doesn't matter how the schools look then you have no idea. For those of us who don't have kids in school the way the appearnace of the buildings is very important to our community and visitors.

I would just like to say that I NEVER suggested the school should pay for a turf field for either the soccer or football teams. I only agreed with the football player that there was a need for one. In fact, I think I said, more than once, that the school paying for it was never going to happen. I also believe in my last statement that I said it was too bad the soccer/football players couldn't play on the same fields because there would be more parents to fundraise for it. And to Educator, I am not, nor do I feel I should be, ashamed of myself for having an opinion different than a kid and expressing it on a "topix" site. Both of my children are honor roll students and both know that their education comes first! As far as you saying not very many of our school's athletes go on to play sports in college - completely untrue. And I would 100 times rather my kids have something to focus on like soccer and other sports rather than running the streets bored and getting into trouble!!

It's been two years and ya'll are still talking about Holly every time someone mentions the high school! How pathetic though I admit it was rare to have someone so boldly come to a public forum, announce who they were, and then spill the truth about her own life rather than gossip about others.

Maybe if we brought the grossly inflated salaries of the administrators down to a realistic salary we would have more money for EDUCATION It seems to me the district has governed itself to feed heavily out of the trough and has lost scope of educating children
