why oh why do we have to always read on the news about this accident or that happening because of a drunk driver? We ALL know that drunk driving is not safe, yet many people choose to do it every day. They know its wrong, and for those that do make it home safe, many of them even say, "I can't believe I drove last night". What can we do as a society to just get these creeps off the road? I have no idea, that's why I'm asking.. I give our cops all of the credit in the world for having to deal with this crap.
It's an example of how alcohol affects your judgement. I've seen people ask their friends before they started drinking tell the friends to take their keys if they get too drunk to drive, then almost get in a fight with a friend trying to take the keys!

I actually believe some people don't look at life as being precious untill something happens to them personally, then it makes some thing. I could have been seriuosly hurt or even killed so it looks like a few need a wake up call, plus relatives trying to make them see the big picture as they lay in a hospital bed looking at the tears steaming from their faces. So sad yet so true.

So many times we dont appreciate what we have untill we lose it..My son only move out to his new home ,and i feel empty,,and ive allready lost a daughter,23 years ago,, KIDS AND ADULTS PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU GO OUT AND DRIVE,,YOU DONT ONLY HURT YOURSELF,YOU HURT THE REST OF US,IT IS NOT WORTH IT,,CALL SOMEONE,,YOU WILL LOSE!!!!! SORRY,BUT LOSING A CHILD TO ILLNESS,,IS SO DIFFERENT FROM ALL YOU PEOPLE THAT CHOSE TO DRINK AND DRIVE,AND DIE..THINK OF YOUR FAMILY..I so agree with you old timer......

I actually know this driver personally, there was a lot more to the situation that led to his downfall. For quite some time he was clean and sober untill family issues started to rise and his wife threatened to leave him.
Now I'm not justifying what he did and how stupid of a decision he made, but at the same time for some one like him, it's hard to think of family when situations happen that can push people over the edge.

I forgot to add that at the time of this accident, he was suicidal and had told his wife to tell the kids good bye. (This is what I was told by another mutual friend).

Sorry for your loss Trish but I can partly understand how you feel. I went through the loss of a nephew of 7yrs old from lukemia while I was in the far east and couldn't be here, so I can see where your coming from also. And dontknow I can understand but if this person is that bad off then someone should be around him all the time or get them professional help.

I would guess that it won't be too long before the driver might not have to worry about buying gas. He won't have a license to drive with.
Unfortunately not having a license never stopped anyone who already has disregard for the law from driving.

Your right Rusty, I was sitting in for jury selection and most all of the cases were people driving without a license or revoked and restricted license, the very same ones that think, I WON'T GET STOPPED or CAUGHT. Oh yeah these people are the ones who think they can outsmart the law.(NOT)
