I am not getting something about this story here. I thought they allready had the guy in custody because he was involved in the accident. I thought there was 2 racers and one was caught due to accident while the other sped off. Am I missing something here?

I am confused as well. I thought the caught one of the idiots already, and were looking for the second idiot who thought that his thrill seeking trumped innocent peoples' safety. I guess we will have to wait and see.

From the original story linked to in the above article:

The police chief says based on the seriousness of the crime they could have arrested Cook immediately but wants to tie up the investigation first.

What I don't get is that it is being reported that Cook was driving "in excess of 100 miles per hour." There is really no way of knowing exactly how fast he was going. The only reason that they are reporting that as his speed is that was what witnesses said.

But honestly, it's hard to tell just by watching a car go by exactly how fast it is traveling. We have had a problem in our neighborhood of people speeding down our street and we have had several neighborhood watch meetings with police at which this problem was discussed. One of the police officers said that he saw a car that looked like it was going at least 35 down our street, but on the radar, it said 27.

Anybody have any updates on how Ken Smith is doing? Or what the extent of his injuries were? Is he still in the hospital? An update would be nice.

Somebody in the Kentwood area has to know who the other driver that fled was.....and they need to turn him/her in! If he/she can't man up to it, hopefully someone else will. What Max did was wrong, but fleeing the scene of an accident only adds insult to injury. Max shouldn't be taking the heat alone.

There has got to be some decent people left in Kentwood. Please do the right thing and turn this person in, instead of turning the other cheek.

One would think that this guy could provide a very good description of the car and other driver to the police. Ain't like the guy just zoomed past him so he decided to race him.
