He was touted as some messiah would fix all wrongs, all I see is a lot of talk. No seriously, do you remember a president who gave soooo many speeches? Maybe if he spent more time doing his job vs. writing and giving speeches he might have gotten more things done, just saying... Steelie But then you get chastised for not informing the public, no win situation.

Living Large2 wrote: <quoted text>So let me get this right. You are saying that raising taxes, raising the cost of power to run the business's, and forcing a costly health care bill will help stimulate the economy? Let's stop pitching rocks at Bush and Clinton, and get down to the insane policies of our new leader. I'm sorry but I don't see things getting better under these policies. It would really help for you to get informed. It was the private sector that got us into this mess. The Private Sector. They were the one's the invented these derivatives, this bundling together of toxic assets and selling them as investments. And it was the government 'leaders' in the financial oversight that decided it was best to keep the government nose out of private business dealings as those derivatives were private contracts. And the reason they could do it? was because the Republicans Gramm Leach and Bliley introduced the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act that repealed the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 that Bill Clinton signed into law in 1999. So yes I am pitching rocks at Clinton for being so blinded to reality that caused this to happen in the first place. And you're blaming those who have tried to keep this country from a complete financial meltdown. You're not going to see things getting better for a long time here. Why? Because the people in this country are too blinded by a false sense of "loss of freedom" that has and will halter us from emerging from this disaster like other countries have and will quicker than we will. It was the private sector that caused this and it's the private sector paranoia that is the anchor to us emerging out of it as quickly as we otherwise could.

Yeah, yeah, we know, it is all the private sector's fault. If they would just go away and let the government employ everyone, we would have a beautiful utopia on our hands!

Please, get real!

Most of those signs are at projects that had money allocated a long time ago and are most likely not being funded with stimulus money

Please, get real! In this instance, particularly, the Government decision makers decided to stay out of it because all these derivatives were being sold under private contracts. Private contracts that caused a global and especially U.S. financial disaster. This should be proof positive that leaving business to make it's own rules and do what ever they so please is like letting a group of kids run wild in a candy shop and someone else will pay the bill. And do kid yourself, it's been proven that the "representatives" are being paid by the corporations to change the rules. Or they are from the corporations and are working in their best interests. I am being real. Open your eyes and pay attention. Because you failed to see it, or failed to grasp it, here it is for you to watch. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warni...

Gotta love these companies that just so love the U.S. Yes, Amway is getting rid of jobs. Some are going to Costa Rica, but 93 more are not going anywhere, they are just going away. Kind of like the GM plant in Wyoming just "went away". I am very aware that businesses lobby the Congress. I have long been a proponent of changing the laws and not allowing lobbyists in at all. I have also long been in favor of not allowing our Congress or Governors or ANY ex-government employee to be a lobbyist or to lobby for at least 2 years after they are out of office. Of course, all I hear is "that violates freedom of speech" and I hear that from both sides. So, again, in simple terms, what is YOUR solution? Do you agree that the lobbyists need to go away, or is it only certain lobbyists that you think need to go away??? Are you going to be in favor of getting rid of all the lobbyists or just some????

Ok... whatever. Fact? Obama must have America behind him to make *hit happen. Left/Right/Up/Down...Holy c*ap... If we don't back him up... We lose all credibility and more. Life does extend beyond Canada and Indiana. Been thru worse, seen better. Instead of dividing, we should be uniting... to save this Nation, its heritage and whatever tomorrow harbors. "A Nation Divided". And we can't find the common denominator?

At this point it's not about lobbyists. It's about the government not getting involved in "private business dealings" that caused this latest financial catastrophe. It's about representatives repealing laws proven to be functional for 60+ years simply to feed private pockets. It's about the reality that this current fiscal crisis was brought about by the private sector. Just like the Great Depression was. Which only goes to prove the private sector mis-dealings can have a disastrous affect on the entire economy. Business is not a benign undertaking. And the failure of people to recognize that is the biggest catastrophe. As far as lobbyists. From every sector they have a useful function. However to be able to buy law makers should be a felony that both involved in it should be put away for life. There should be very strict and enforced laws. Not the mamby-pamby ones we have now that for that matter aren't even enforced. Any law maker that takes any type of position with a private corporation for 5 years after they have left office should be tried and if found guilty of having dealt directly or even indirectly with that company while in office goes to jail for 15 years with no chance of parole. No law maker and/or government official shall hold a position in government that deals directly with what any company they may have been employed by previously with the same penalties as stated above.

What do you expect from a true red-flag communist traitor like Obummer but to try and annihilate the free market economy? He is a grand mistake, worse than most people could possibly imagine. He is a traitor of the Nth degree. He will face justice of some sort soon I'm sure.

Then what do you call all those private U.S. businesses that are boosting the Chinese self-proclaimed Communists economy by moving all the jobs from here to there?

Dr Tim Arnods wrote: Obama is one of those men who helped destroy the US. I believe that as members of the US we should stand up fot what is right. Obama lies e.g. "we shall bring our boys home from Iraq" and guess what happens he put them over in Iran. That is a flat out lie to everyone, to the citezens to the families of those soldiers and to us. So what has been doen? Absolutely nothing. Also guantaunimo bay should be closed in 2 week. Somehow that will not work. Why should we, American citizens, take in a president that lies. "We will not tax a dime from the middle class people. Whell guess what? Me and my familly have been taxed 8000$ per person with higher taxes and we are in the upper middle class. So why do people put up with this? It is because everyone thinks they can't make a difference; you can if you try. So make a difference. And make our government better. well said, this is what we get for voting for a democrat. Everyone said George Bush was worthless. How bad is he now? Democrats were blasting him for his spending, but what is Obama doing ? Lies... all lies. Tax the rich, what happen ? why doesn't Obama cut the senators wages ? We have to take a cut. Not only that, what is our worhtless govenor doing ? Blame the economy, George Bushs fault isn't it. Go back to Canada you worthless mole !

Does that however mean that it became a mandate for American businesses to forsake U.S. economic health in favor of only their own? Not in my opinion. All U.S. businesses that forsake the very country that pandered them to become the profit heavy companies they were are traitors.
