Check your monthly bills and see the fuel surcharge. Airline ticket..to garbageman. Yes I work for a auto company and get C.O.L.A. BUT, fuel is NOT counted for cost of living allowance. So yeah, I get charged so why can't I charge?

I knew there some good companies out there. Good companies take care of their people without the help of a union. It is refreshing to hear something positive on these forums for a change.

Hmmm! I wonder if the UAW ought to strike for a gas allowance now?
Sorry. I just couldn't resist. The devil made me say that.
Good Idea

That's an awesome gesture...regretfully I hope the employees don't neglect to keep track of the money and report it as income...and the company takes all the appropriate payroll taxes, etc. out of the persons salary. Don't you LOVE our governement!!

I think this is the most inspiring thing I've heard about someone doing. At a time when it will become most appreciated. The gesture will go along way. It is next to impossible these days for any company to go that extra mile.

What a class act. It is almost unheard of in todays world for a company to actually care about it's employees, let alone dig into their pockets to help. I will go out of my way to do business with them--I don't care if it does cost a few $ more.

I bet it doesn't--but how many businesses do you know of who offer ANYTHING? Think of what other companies could do for 10 to 20 cents per customer? Too bad greed usually gets in the way!

It occured to me however, after this money is given. How much is actually left after taxes. But I applaude the efforts of this employer.
