Hello LMS, it is a rough sport and kids are going to get hurt, hopefully not too bad though. I don't get all the dirty play either but if they need to play dirty to win are they really winners ??

So we handed it to Greenville last Friday, we have Northview this Friday, should be another tough game but I have faith in the boys from Holland this year. Looks as if we may actually make the playoffs and then some.

GO DUTCH !!!

Awesome! So that makes you guys undefeated so far? I am sure Montague will make the playoffs like they normally do but we will see how far they get this year. I think they were knocked off in the 3rd game of the playoffs last year. But of course, the two years prior to that they won state (Division 6).

The rest of the season will be a tough one for my little guys. But as long as they act like they did after this loss on Saturday, it's all good. They both said they had fun and neither one of them was upset or angry over losing. So, as long as they enjoy playing that is all that matters right now. Even though it is more fun when you win! LOL.

Hey Big Mike, how is your season going? I hope your boys are still kicking butt and taking names!

Well, here is the update on my boys' season:

My youngest's (7 year old) team is 4-2. They had an upsetting loss against Oakridge this past weekend which bumped them out of a chance in the Championship game. However, they will be playing in the Consolation game for 3rd/4th place. Funny thing is, it looks like they have to play our other Montague Mini-Mite team in the Consolation game! That's too funny. But it will be fun.

My middle son's (9 year old) team has had a really tough season! So far they are 1-5 with one game left to go. It's been a tough year. HOWEVER! This weekend my son made his first touchdown! He caught a pass, turned around and was being tackled as he crossed into the end zone. It was awesome! I think I "broke" my throat from screaming so much! It was so exciting. That game he also made a ton of great tackles but one was way in the backfield for a loss of 9 yards for the other team. He has made a lot of great plays this year but I think one of the best (besides the TD) was on a 4th down when he caught a 30 yard pass. The entire crowd in the stands were yelling and hollering! Yep, one day he is gonna be one of those players in high school that everyone is talking about! He does so well in school and it transfer out onto the field as well. I have so much to proud of with that one. He is such an incredibly mature, responsible, trustworthy kid that has never given me a reason to distrust him. I don't know what I did right in my life but I got lucky having a kid like him. Of course my other two are awesome in their ways too!

Hey LMS, sounds great. At least you have many years left to watch them. Enjoy all of them because before you know it it will be over.

We are doing ok. Know we are 5-2. had a real heart breaker with Kenowa Hills, lost in double overtime 56-50 and then Friday night had our asses handed to us by Forest Hills Central. None of our guys showed up to play and our QB fumbled about 5 or 6 times. Hard to win games when you don't hold on to the football. Lost like 42-7 or something crazy.

The good news is that GVSU and Central Mich. and a few others have been calling my son and trying to recruit him. Hopefully we can have one of them pay for his college education !!

That is fantastic Mike!!! Congratulations! I am thrilled for you and your son. Does he know what school he would like to go to? Getting a football scholarship would be awesome! I am really hoping that my 9 year old will have that option when he gets there! With his brains he will likely end up going to a top notch school that we would never in a million years be able to afford! LOL. But I suppose a lot could change between 3rd grade and high school so I won't count my chickens before they hatch!

So how many regular season games to you guys have left?

He really wants to go to GVSU or Western, we will see.

Only two more games left, one more "W" and we will make playoffs. I think it is only the second time in Holland High school history that we will make playoffs.

I am proud of them boys !!

Well Mike, keep me updated. Hopefully I can watch your boys play for the state championship on TV! I am not sure if our Montague HS team is even looking at playoffs this year. Since they won back-to-back state championships in 2008 and 2009 and then lost in the playoffs last year, I kind of lost interest in keeping track of their season.

Thanks Mike! You know, after I typed that last post, I thought "oh crap, if Pat Collins (varsity coach) seen that, he would likely come over and kick me in my a$$!!" LOL.
