Video: Milwaukee Police Officer's DUI Arrest By Mick Trevey WEST ALLIS, Wis - West Allis Police released a squad car video showing an off-duty Milwaukee Police officer being arrested for drunk driving.
The incident happened on January 11, 2010. Milwaukee Police Officer Matthew Truman was arrested for his second OWI offense after West Allis Police pulled him over along South 84th Street.
According to a filing at the Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission, Truman "stated he started drinking at 4:00 p.m. and consumed up to fifteen beers. He admitted he was under the influence of an intoxicant and not fit for duty." West Allis Police reports show he blew a 0.25 blood alcohol concentration.
The West Allis squad car video shows Truman making a wide turn off of South 84th Street into the parking lot of Johnny V's Classic Cafe. The turn is so wide on the video that Truman's car hits a patch of snow and becomes momentarily stuck.
After Truman parks his vehicle, he is seen on the video stumbling as officers search him. He is also seen attempting to make a cell phone call while officers are holding on to him.
Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn suspended Truman for 35 days. Typically, Truman is assigned to Police District 7.
Truman did not answer the door Tuesday at his west-side home. His attorney, Paul Bucher, declined to comment.
Inside Johnny V's Classic Cafe, people said they were glad no one was hurt. " You should not drink and drive and you’re putting a lot of people’s lives in danger," said Kathy Vassallo.

WITI Milwaukee police sergeant pleads guilty after cited for driving drunk
Drunk and asleep behind the wheel, his blood alcohol level was .12 Myra Sanchick
FOX6 Reporter
4:37 PM CDT, June 8, 2010
WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE
Walter McCullough, a Milwaukee police sergeant at District 1, received a municipal citation and pleaded guilty after he was cited for driving drunk.
Police responded to a call reporting there was a suspicious car in an alley near 91st and Chambers St. The car was parked with the engine still running. When police approached the car, they found McCullough drunk, asleep behind the wheel. A breathalizer test showed he had a blood alcohol level of .12, one-and-a-half times the legal limit.
This was McCullough's first offense. He was referred to an alcohol assessment program. McCullough was also fined and given a 180 driver's license suspension. A police internal investigation is expected to start soon and McCullough could face a suspension.

Sheriff's deputy charged with second OWI By Bruce Vielmetti of the Journal Sentinel
Posted: Feb. 24, 2010 |(58) Comments
A Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy has been charged with second-offense drunken driving after he was found unresponsive behind the wheel of a van parked in West Allis this month.
Christopher Paul Conell, 36, faces up to six months in jail and fine of up to $1,100 if convicted. Conell, who is suspended from his job, was convicted of a 2008 drunken driving episode in which he flashed his deputy's badge and asked Hales Corners police to let him go.
According to the complaint issued Wednesday:
A resident called West Allis police about 2:45 a.m. Feb. 5 to report that an unfamiliar van had been idling in the 2000 block of S. 75th St. for at least 45 minutes.
An officer responded and found Conell slumped forward in the driver's seat, apparently asleep. The engine was running and the headlights were on. He failed to wake after the officer opened the door, shook his arm and yelled "police." Conell eventually came to but spoke in extremely slurred manner and said he didn't know where he was. Eventually he said he was coming from the Painted Parrot, a West Allis tavern.
Officers also noted Conell had glassy eyes, a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and vomit in his van.
Not initially arrested But a supervisor who responded to the scene, Sgt. Clint Corwin, did not arrest Conell at the time because, according to the complaint, police could not immediately reach the initial tipster to find out if he had seen Conell's van moving, the van was legally parked and Conell was not touching the brake pedal or the gear shift. The complaint says Conell was taken to the West Allis police station but does not say he was given a field sobriety or a breath test.
Police later that day did find the witness, who said the van was not running when he first noticed it about 1 a.m. Three days after that, police also spoke with a man who had been at the Painted Parrot with Conell, who told investigators he saw Conell consume three or four glasses of beer before leaving the tavern alone about 12:15 a.m. Feb.5.
West Allis Police Chief Michael Jungbluth said this month that officers probably should have arrested Conell.
Jungbluth did not return a call seeking comment.

Richard,
This is the first time I have noticed this forum. You are a despicible person. You take "pleasure" in reporting any police officer that has been charged with DUI. Guess what, they are human beings as well and make mistakes too much to the chagrin of inflamatory citizens like you. No one asks you to be perfect in life and no one expects you to be. This trooper served with distinction and you dishonor him and his familiy by glorifying the fact that he was killed in a collision on the date of his trial.
Sincerely, Angry

The two stories that make me laugh the most are ones about; 1) dead cops, 2) incarcerated cops, 3) soon to be fired cops, 4) cops who get caught committing crimes, and, 5) last but not least, DUI arrested cops, especially cops that get their DUI while on duty in their police vehicle! LOL! They have had a rash of those last year! Jeepers was that a banner year for that! Here's to many more this year! LOL!
