Have any of you seen Vegas (or Reno) OFF the main strip. It doesn't exactly scream prosperity. Of course with high gas prices it's a shame people have to drive an hour or two to loose their money.

The state gets a nice chunk of the casino's take. It might keep them from rasing our taxes.

I do not agree on the point that the public will go to the casino that is closer to home. They will go to the casino that treats them well reguardless of the location.

We are looking forward to another casino being closer to home. Haven't been doing so hot at the Soaring Eagle and don't like the 2.5 hr. drive each way to others, unless it's an over nighter :)

Really? I heard Vegas had one of if not the highest forclosure rate in the country. For every dollar spent in a casino, that's one dollar that won't be spent in the grocery, clothing, or hardware store. Casino jobs don't pay that well. I'm just not sold on the claim that casinos are good for the economy. I guess time will tell.

I got my players card in the mail today, the letter said the same thing that they always say, "opening the first of August." When I was down south a casino was open a good month before their grand opening. Wonder what's going on.

Odds are better between 7 am and 3 Monday thru Thursday when the bus tours are in the building.

It is harder to win on weekends when the place is packed.

I always heard it's better when the place is busier as the machines are getting "more exercise!" :)

I won't go to a casino for the comps. Four Winds consistently offers me 100-300 in free slot play but I won't make the 3 hour drive because they're so tight and I've never won there. I return to the ones where I feel I've got a fighting chance to win something. I walked into the slot palace across the street from Soaring Eagle yesterday and walked out less than 5 minutes later after cashing a 704.00 ticket and the Eagle is the worst for comps (except for food) but I play there because I can win.

My husband and I both did good up north, mostly at St. Ignace. Hard to play for 6 days (not all day long :) ) and still come home ahead. My Dad always does good at Four Winds, I haven't heard of anyone going to Blue Chip any more.

I like to play up north too. We casino hop the U.P a lot but my favorite is Bay Mills up in Brimley. You're right though about playing too many hours for too many days...eventually they will get all your money.

I won $600 the first day I was there. The next morning I went to a bank and had a cashiers check made out to myself. I addressed the envelope, but tucked it away and managed to come home with it! Certainly would have rather won it the last day. We get a kick out of the little casino in Hessel.
