Actually, it shouldn't be a crime for a person to have sex with a 17 year old. U.S. law conflicts with the age of consent determined by the bible.

It states an age of consent in the bible? I wasn't aware of that.

What they practiced at that time is not necessarily what was OK, but may have been necessary to populate the world. Just as Adam & Eve's kids had to have had sex...

But it is odd that God would have women become of child bearing age 5-6 years before it becomes "legal".

Therefore, if we use worldly rules from Mexico, then everything is copacetic?

Well, it says that as long as man's law does not conflict with God's law, we are to obey it. But if it conflicts, God's law is above all else.

Are you sure about that? In the U.S., they will prosecute a person who travels to other countries to participate in child prostitution, which is not the same as age of consent. I'm looking to do either, I'm a criminal justice management major, simply throwing things against the wall to see what will stick and what won't. Most of the times that post something, it's to see of others will cite their case with case law, US code, or state statutes.

I'm sorry, I meant to say that I'm NOT looking to do either. My pursuits here on topix is to merely find people who will debate the actual laws and cases that layed precident.

Seriously doubt that the officer was an immediate threat and the arrest could not have waited a few hours to the end of shift, or that the DUI checkpoint shut down on a ruse and the officer called back into the station .. looks like a gross bad call and poor tactics.

It will all come out in civil depositions .. who in the hell was quaterbacking this and made the ultimate decision, was it the Chief, who was advising him, who made the call on this and planned it out .. even at this tragic scene, the tactics must have been poorly thought out and perhaps the wrong people sent out to make the arrest .. what really happen at the scene, how was the officer approached, who initiated physical contact, were the officers grappling for his gun, so many damn questions must be answered. Was the information coming in properly evaluated as to exigent circumstances.

Recently in the news a CHP officer was convicted of murdering her husband, the case had been under investigation fot two years and she remained on the job for some time before her arrest .. an LAPD detective was recently arrested at her office for murder, which had also been under investigation for some time .. these were murder cases, and the two officers were arrested at their police stations.

@ what....I agree with you,it could have been handle a lot better , and it could have ended up up a lot worst , but as it is he was having sex with a 17 year old and I guess in who ever decided to arrest. Him thought he was dangerous enough to arrest him on the spot with lots of people around and in posetion of a fire arm ....so how did it go down .... The other cops yelled HE'S GOT A GUN ,HE'S GOT A GUN. THEN THEY SHOT HIM

Doubtfull in reality that it could have been handled any worse. Oh, yes, endless scenarios can be imagined. I saw the long video of the Chief being interviewed, and he is a very impressive man and appeared highly competent and sincere. I was thinking, hire him for the Chief in LA.

Hopefully he was at the Station when the decision was made and he personaly evaluated the info that was coming in. Keep in mind, that SM is not that big of a police dept. Was it corroborated, or a runaway internal investigation feeding on speculation from less than reliable sources. I'm less than convinced of the severe degree of exigent circumstances, that the Chief kept refering to. It will be a miracle, if some further fact finding committe, gives SMP a pass on all of this.

It was only a pig. Don't care how they handled it.

If they wanted to do it in a way that humilated him, so be it. No different than many pigs conduct business with civilians.

Did the arrest team first brandish their weapons and go through felony arrest procedures?
