I was there when it happened and i think the security could've been alot more helpful with informing the civilians on what was happening. I didn't know what happened untill i got home.

That's what you get when the mall hires the "Barney Fife Secutiry Team"...

That's what you get when they allow the likes of the people who were fighting and bringing guns into the mall to loiter there night after night when they are not there to do business with any of the stores in the mall. Rivergate mall sure has gone down hill in the past few years, and to think that they used to be concerned about the teenagers cruising! Now they've gone inside to cause turmoil.

I work at the mall and they have police officers that works security. I think they did a great job and they need the support of the city's people and the surrounding areas. Everyone wants to be a critic, but no one wants to do there part as a citizen. So all of you who think they have the "Barney Fife" Team, maybe you need do your part.

I am a Rivergate Mall employee, and I feel like the mall security did all they could to keep everyone safe. I'm sure they didn't want to scare everyone that was shopping, but once they realized nobody was hurt, they asked everyone to leave the mall, so that nobody else was in any danger. Also, other mall employees, like myself, made sure that the people in their stores were safe and secure inside the stores.

Rivergate Mall is the next Hickory Hollow Mall in terms of gang violence. As patrons flock to "The Streets of Indian Lake" in Hendersonville to avoid the violence, the gangs will surely follow. Thanks, Mayor Foster, for this albatross!

If the loitering by a group of thugs, that are not there to do any shopping, isn't ordered to leave the mall, then the mall eventually will be a haven for gang activity. I stopped shopping Rivergate Mall quite a while back because of the gangs. I didn't feel as though the security was sufficient and the gangs were growing in numbers.

So, How bout a description of the perp? I'll bet it was a black guy or an illegal immigrant. Madison has been ruined by the illegals and gangsta wannabes moving in. When will our society abandon political correctness and start calling a spade a spade and holding folks accountalbe for their actions without regard to race.

I was inside the mall in the fod court when this took place and was never notified until I was near the crime scene, In my opinion the mall did a horrible job in letting customers know what was going on

To all of those who are complaining about "not being informed about what had happened". The security and law enforcement agents are not there to keep you informed. They are there to keep you as safe as possible. If you want information, watch the news. If the law enforcement or security had all run around "keeping people informed" it would have caused a panic and more people would have been hurt. This is a statistical FACT. Keep the thugs and those who would loiter out of the mall.

Don't generalize.

The mall needs to put country music back on the loud speakers. We have heard that when the mall began to play more of the rap music on the speakers, it attracted more gangs. I hate going to this mall because every time I do, there are K-9's there with the police walking around. Not a bad thing, but it makes me wonder what is going on. I have also witnessed two groups of people yelling at each other and the police were called to monitor the situation. My friends and I refer to this mall as "The Hood" because that is what it has turned into. They need to clean it up or they will loose merchants like Hickory Hollow Mall did, and they are already losing customers. Many people I know refuse to go to Rivergate Mall because of these type of situations.

By the way, I noticed my post said Richmond, KY. I am using someone else's computer however, I am from the Nashville area. As far as Hendersonville goes, the Streets of Indian Lake is heavily monitored by police on bikes and in patrol cars. With this mall being outdoors and pricey, it may not attract the type of people who simply "hang out" at Rivergate and cause problems.

Still no descriptions of the perps in the article? Goodness, all the lights must have been out inside the mall at the time I guess. But then I would be willing to bet everyone who saw this news item on any of the 4 networks here in Nashville knows exactly what the perps look like. As someone who grew up in Goodlettsville, the deterioration of Rivergate as it succumbs to gangs and thugs is a very sad sight. It also does not bode well for property values in Goodlettsville.

My son has the best idea. Snipers in conceled areas who cap anyone that flashes a gang sign. Had I been there perhaps the corenor could give us a description. I know how to protect myself.

Other local communities, law enforcement and mall operators seem to have the situation under control in their malls?

Yeah but they could have easily came through an intercom system and quickly explained for everyone to leave the mall I dont think it would have caused PANIC seeing that there were not a lot of people there.

OK They were fighting over a girl. Where is she, Her boyfriend, shot at them, do they know her? id she know them, did she leave the mall? Very confusing, or is it really another gang thing like the guy that shot the shoe carnival manager, then a 9 year old kid, and them a girl walking a dog. On fathers day 3 years ago at Rivergate. He was 15 years old doing a gang enishation with a stolen gun and car. Sounds like a cover up. With all the cameras and they know it was his girlfriend, I hope so. No body could be that bad at security work.

Dear Matt, obviously society and all the bleeding heart liberals are never going to start calling a spade a spade. If after 9/11 and all those deaths we still can't profile anyone who might look like a terrorist then it will never be fixed. This society is just doomed. And for what? So we don't hurt a few innocent people's feelings? Its bull crap and its all I can do not to scream at the stupidity of it all. Thanks for being brave enough to voice your opinion. Susie
