Marine Commandant Appears to Resist White House on Gay Ban

Full story: lgbtnewsblog.blogspot.com

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., -- Marine Corps Commandant General James Conway is opposing President Obama's pledge to repeal "don't ask, don't tell," the Washington Times is reporting today. Citing a former senior Pentagon official, the Times says that General Conway, "has emerged in internal Pentagon deliberations as the most outspoken opponent of permitting gay men and women to serve openly in the U.S. military." According to the Times, the official "has been privy to private conversations on the matter," and says that "Conway has g

I agree with Col. Klass. Obama should call in his Chiefs of Staff and tell them, not ask their opinion. This Gen. Conway most likely can look forward to being over-looked in any near-future advancements. I don't think it is the wisest move to attempt to pre-empt the Commander-In-Chief's decisions, regardless of how he might decide.

It would be a marine.
A study showed that marines don't think they are gay, despite man on man sex, unless they act feminine.

It would seem Gen. Conway should be relieved of his command. Not obeying the Commander-in-Chief is a serious offence. It's about time we make this change. Many of our allies which whom our soilders fight toghether, allow same sex soilders and so we should get over this. They said having women in the military were going to be problematic and that too have been proven wrong. Gee, there was a day when we had segregated units. What does this say about our nation and military. We're very behind the times with this issue.

I think the general has little to worry about. Obama has done nothing to change the law. It appears he will do little in the future. Talk is cheap.

My Marine (Cherry Point) is at Camp Cupcake right now. He would have no problem if his gay twin brother signed up tomorrow!

The USMC are a bunch of bottoms. I've hooked up with a couple of guys from the USMC and they were total bottoms. It's well known if a guy is in the USMC and is gay he's a total, 100%, all-the-way power bottom.

Since when is receiving a dick inside you seen as a sign of weakness? Any gay man knows it takes more self-awareness and control to be f$%ked than to f&*k. Women deal with this attitude all the time: you accept a penis, therefore you are "less than".

Why do we as a society equate sexual positions with social status?

I consider both 'tops" and "bottoms' BORING - why settle for a glass that's half full? I'm so glad to be versatile - not trapped in any labelling other than being a sexual human.

Who said anything about bottoms being weak??? Not I so don't attempt to put words in my mouth.
btw, "versatile"... That's too funny. I think a better description would be "I'd rather bottom" or "I'll screw you if I have to".

Nobody said anything about weakness. You apparently don't know what you're talking about. "Top" and "bottom" are nothing more than pieces of a dynamic in power exchange.

I disagree with the above comment about women in the military not being problematic. I served in Desert Storm in a unit that was torn apart with woman related problems. A captain I knew said it best,"Three quarters of female soldiers are better than the average male soldier. The other quarter causes so many problems, that most officers confidentially wish the whole thing (women in the army) would go away."
