In todays tech-friendly world anyone who has any kind of work done without research is foolish.

Greg's column is a goldmine of "Who's Who" in the "avoid at all costs" realm. If one can't afford to flush $$ down the loo, make the net your friend.

I still can not fathom why he is not in jail, or in the hospital with so many people he has wronged. Let's see, theft by deception,credit card fraud, stolen identities, grand theft, uttering a forged instrument, issuing worthless checks to vendors, consultants, and employees, etc. etc. The good news is, his internet host Homestead disabled his website so he can not attract customers with his ridiculously low prices. No wonder he had so many customers and stayed in business so long. He would advertise laminate for $1.33 when the best wholesale price for HIM was .99 cents (not including freight) If the price is to good to be true...Lou Perlman better make room in his cell for a new cellmate!

It's not illegal BECAUSE unless you can prove that he intended to scam you, you have no case.
And how can you prove he intended to scam you?

THAT'S how these thieves get away with scam after scam after scam. We got ripped off one time. Once. Lesson learned is NEVER pay anything up front. I only pay for work completed. I figure if the contractor doesn't have enough money to buy the materials to start the job, he's not much of a contractor. I'll even pay for the materials directly, but not one dime to the contractor.

I put a deposit on carpet with Joe Smith in July. I removed all my carpets and no one showed up the day my carpet was to be installed, or answered the phone for 2 weeks. I then read one of Greg's many articles about Smith. I do not have the money to hire an attorney to go after Smith. I had to use what money I had to purchase flooring from a real flooring company. That was after 4 months of waiting for my carpet from Stellar Flooring, and living on bare concrete floors.

I saw a new Stellar Flooring sign on Hwy. 50 in Winter Garden. Looks like he has a new location.

I saw the sign January 24, 2009. So I would think this is where he has moved the business.

He moved there last month. Guess he used our deposit money to finance the move!! He is an ex con from Texas. Why don't they prosecute him?

In addition, we may be getting a certain Governor from Illinios heading down here soon. Greg, be on the look out...all the kookoos are attracted to us!
