Before I start, I would like to ask that contributers to this thread PLEASE contribute something of value to it. Not all of the ignorant racist name calling that I've seen alot of brain dead people post in other threads. I am looking for a discussion and answers to a question here, not a petty argument.
Question:
Why do most black voters instinctivly vote democrat?
While watching the election results Tuesday night, they were showing some of the exit poll results. Whites were split almost evenly down the middle for Repulican or Democrat. Black voters on the other hand were almost 75% to 90% Democrat.
Now my question really stems from this, historically the Democratic party has had more to do with repressing black rights, while the repulican party has done more for blacks in one act the Democrats have ever done i.e. Abraham Lincoln was the very 1st Republican ever(after the onset of the Civil War the party name was changed to the Union Party). What have the Democrats EVER done to rivel that?
The south during the early part of this century where black rights were repressed the most was ruled by democrats(Ever heard the term "White Southern Democrat?)
A MAJOR player in the Democratic party to this very day was a grand Wizard of the KKK. Look into Robert Byrd's past and you will see that this is truth(Hillory Clinton just recently threw him a birthday party).
These are just a few facts that I would like some construtive comments on.

It has to be something more deeply ingrained than entitlement programs. Even very succesfull black friends that I have instictivly pull the Democratic lever without even think twice about it.

As far as the public assistance goes, I think that it has HURT the black community 200 times more than it has help. Statistics show that if your parents were liflong recievers of welfare that the chance for you to be on welfare is much greater and for your children as well, thus starting a vicious cycle. Lifelong welfare recievers are kept under the thumb of the government(don't bite the hand that feeds you). It also takes all of the ambition for a person to do better, keeping them at a lower quality of living. Therefore repressing them even further.

Who do you think gives all of our hard earned tax dollars to public housing and such!!!! If you voted for a party that states you don't need to work, just sit back do nothing and collect, what would you do?? Then to top it off if you yelled loud enough and got it, who would you vote for?

I am black and I am a millionaire, on top of that I am a democrat. The republican party doesn't care about blacks or whites for that matter, they only care about money.

How many millions are required to live, why must I earn 10 million more this year when I am already worth twice that much. I believe in giving back and helping those who are legitimately less fortunate.

As soon as the republicans stop sending these kids to a worthless war to die, I am speaking of IRAQ where no weapons of mass destruction were found I may think about voting republican.

As soon as the republicans finish the business in Afganistan where the Osama Ben Ladin operated the taliban, I will probably vote republican.

As soon as they pull or troops out of Iraq because of a lie that Bush, Cheney and Rumsfield told, I will probably think about voting republican.

How does it feel as a republican to look at the news and see all those dead young mean and women (white and black), or all those young men and women who have lost limbs fighting for a lie that bush told.

How about the connection to the religious right where the priest and ministers are committing more sin than a hooker in a tavern.

What about the middle class! IT'S NOT A BLACK THING, IT'S NOT A WHITE THING, IT'S AN HONEST THING. AS SOON AS THE REPUBLICANS LEARN THIS THEY MAY BE ALRIGHT.

As for Abe, blacks love Abe, but those who came after Abe messed that up.

I understand what Baton Rouge is saying as well as what Truth mot ignorance is saying the two of them make very good points but not everyone is like that B.R. My mom was on welfare at one point in time. When I had my first child she refused to let me apply. She always instilled inme that I am better than that. I wait on a check every month but I work for it. I make sure my kids and my home have everything and then some. I don't have a whole lot of money but I use my money wisely. I make sure my kids, their father and I go on vacation three to five times per year. We have family time, we go to church together;etc. There are some people that do not want better so that is black as well as white. I agree with alot of the republican party's agendas as well as the democrats. Alot of people say they are democrats just to get the vote of the black people then switch parties, am I right or wrong? I think it is whatever you believe in not whether you are democrat or republic. I do not like the fact that everything has to have a title to divide us as a people. God made us all and if you ask me , "we are all of color. I have yet to see a white person. I know some people who are labled black and one would not know unless one asks. I know some people that are labled white and I would say "WHERE!!!" She/ He is COLORED." I know that is a word of the past but it is true.

I'm not saying that all children of welfare grow up to be on welfare. But that is what statistics show. Some people us public assistance as just that, assistance. It was never meant to be a primary or sole source of income.

As far as Blacks voting Democartic most of the time, I think they have bought into the lies that the democrats and black leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have sold them. I really don't think that Jackson & Sharpton have the best intentions in mind with the things they do. The government wants all Americans to be successful black, white, hispanic, asian, if you doubt that I can prove it very simply.....If you succeed in this nation, you make lots of money right? If you make lots of money the government gets lot of taxes right? Case closed.

My point here is don't vote for a party because thats how you think you should vote because of what ever. Study the issues and make a educated decision based on that.

One other thing, if Bush, Cheney & Rumsfeld lied well it doesn't take much looking to find clips of John Kerry, Teddy(give me another whiskey)Kennedy, Harry Reed, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton and many other Democrats telling the same lie as well as voting for the war in Iraq as well. Hell John Kerry is on the National Security Council....He prolly(or should have at least, but if you look at his attendence record, he was never there) saw the intel before Bush did. Now they want to backtrack and act like they never said such things....Why you might ask? Simple, because they are opportunist. They sway with the wind.

Hell just as many, if not more, Democratic presidents have brought this nation to war as Repulican.

Also, we are talking about a war that is what 4 years old? How do you account for Blacks leaning approx. 80% democrat for the last what 30 years or so?

If the Democrats wanted to truly help to poor/underpriviledge, they would let divert some of thier public assistance into paying a tuition for a technical or community college so they can get on their feet instead of getting stuck in the welfare trap. They would at least have the possibilty of achieving something that way.

But what am I thinking, they would probably vote Republican then and the Democrats would loose thier voter base. Hmmmmm? Something to think about maybe?

No,two people think alike. How then does voting for a party make that go away, no two people in that party think the same. If a party has 10 items on thier platform. Do you have to have, what 5 or 6 items that you like before you are to vote for that party for life.

As for the question of voting one way....I can only speak for this time, not the 30 years. If people don't like something and are in the mind set to change it they will(there mind, party and vote).

Oh, as for the money. Where is anybody going to get the cash to do anything. We are 9 trillion in the hole right now. No, Democrats or Republicans can overnight fix that! As soon as we drop that names and do things as one. The sooner things get better. We become Americans

I don't really get the gist of your comment. As far as things in the party that a person agrees with, I have asked Democrats black and white what actually makes them a Democrat, what ideals of the party appeals to them. Most of(and I do mean MOST of) them can't really even give me one ideal of the democratic party period, much less one that they agree with. I can tell you EXACTLY what makes me Republican.

I understand the mindset of most underpriviledge democrats, I myself am a rehabilitated Democrat. I was young, had a wife and 2 kids, things wern't going well for us financially. The democratic party promises all these things to the poor, and it appealed to me, they gave me hope that help was on the way. Problem is they delivered on none of them.
Clinton was in office for eight years, one of his pre-election promises was healthcare reform of some sort or free healthcare for Americans, eight years he had do get it done. He never even got it started. After the first 4 years, did we have public heathcare? Did we even have healthcare reform? No and No.
He even had the nerve to run a second time with the heathcare issue....nothing after those four years either. But yet you still have democratic polititions promising us that, and you still have the underpriviledge buying into it.

As I got older and started progressing in life due to the fact that I never gave up or gave in I started to see the error in the Democratic Party. They try to tell us in all their great wisdom that we need them looking out for us to survive, when all you need is willpower and discipline. If you work hard in this great nation of ours success is possible. I don't need some elitist politition is Washington patting me on the butt telling me its going to be okay. I got where I am today with hard work and faith in myself and family.

Daily Horoscope for February 13

Gemini

This is a good time to take stock of your actions and the direction you're going in. Are your efforts getting you anywhere or leading you astray and scattering your energy? If you're putting in the work but not moving forward, you're not on track. The old adage 'cut your coat according to your cloth' is good advice. Be simple and purposeful and don't waste time with things that get no practical results.
