By the order of mayor and trustees of Glenwood and the new village administrator, who goes to school to earn his masters degree on your tax dollars, have decided that as of Jan 1st 2010 all of the clerks in the Police department except for one will be laid off. Because of this reason the Glenwood police department will no long have a jail to hold prisoners and will no longer be open for people to come to for police help after 5pm Monday through Friday. On the weekends, where most of the crimes against persons happen, the police station will not people open to the public at all. The department will not only be closed to the public after 5 pm and on weekends the station will unmanned unless a officer is in there to use the restroom. This is scary.... if someone comes into the station in distress it would be no different than walking into a empty room. Please voice your opinion about this to the fine mayor and concerned trustees of Glenwood. Again they are putting our public safety in jeopardy. Also all of the arrests in Glenwood are going to be transferred to Homewood lockup. The Village of Glenwood administrator says this is going to be permanent. Does Homewood know that? How long do you think they are going to want to do all of Greenwood's work for them? It seems to me that they are slowly trying a different way to get rid of the police department again...or make it part time. This is NOT the way to do this.
