Unfortunately we see this over and over. Somebody gets attacked by their "pet" Bear, lion, tiger, snake. Wild Animals do not make good pets. Gentle Ben ain't so gentle. It is a shame to see somebody get killed or hurt but how can we protect people from their own stupidity.

I guess the bear felt clawstrophobic.

You'are absolutely right.
I don't understand why these poor animals are always shot and killed after an incident like this.
Wild animals should be left in the wild and not be kept in cages by idiots with 'permits.'

I hope they release the lion and tiger before they get shot, too.

Serves her right,,only a fool thinks they can turn a wild animal into a pet...
This careless bitch caused a beautiful animal to be killed for no reason...
And I would attack too, being enclosed such as it was, not natural either...

You also need to blame the folks that issue these licences for people to keep wild animals.
How utterly dumb to keep a wild animal caged like this. Does anyone every think about the quality of life these animals suffer? I guess not.

None of them were ever in the wild, all captive born. Could not survive release. Good cartoon view though..

Where did you find that info?

"Tim Conway at the Pennsylvania Game Commission's northeastern regional office in Dallas...said the Game Commission grants permits allowing people to own wild animals as pets."

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/A...

"'Owners of wild animals typically have a two-section cage, allowing them to isolate the animal behind a locked gate while they clean the other part,' Conway said."

Bear are considered wild animals, but they cannot go out and capture them as pets. They have to be captive born.

It's tragic all around. But "wild" animals are NOT domestic pets. A family bought their 7 yr old daughter a baby tiger cub. And yes, when the "pet kitty" was about 400 lbs, the little girl was "grooming" her pet kitty, and pet "tiger kitty" killed the little girl in 15 seconds. Even professionally trainers knows it is "dangerous" and "deadly."
