What is to stop the algae haters from substituting herbicide for algacide. There are not enough inspectors to monitor the medium of the vigilante spray rigs. Perhaps we should seek the sovereign support of the local tribe to stop this poor excuse of stewardship. The biologists arent listening to reason and The County would sell out fresh air and water for a hundred bucks a permit. Is Carolyn Ruttan a biologist or something? Money Talks. But what of it when we audit the federal reserve and the entire country realize ther paper is worthless.
By the way, this has happened before. |

Another unbelievable story from our county. Allowing local-yocal hay seeds to apply and use pesticides on our lake that provides so much of the drinking water supply. It only takes one Lake Co. idiot to be the "do it yourself type", which quite a few lake front owners are. And we have wondered for decades why people from the adjacent counties call this Flake County.

Ok. If you have a reasonable way to stop the spreading of the invasive weeds, let people know. These plants are taking more of the lake every year. Many of us have watched these plants spread since the early 90s, thanks to unclean boats from other lakes. We dont have long before Clear Lake will be a swamp. Soo make a difference and give people an answer/ opinion how to make this lake better. Correct the problem. Dont just turn your head and think things will be good soon by doing nothing. And for the negative type people that have no interest in Clear Lake, go find yourself and take up flying.

We are sail boaters and have a boat in Nice Holiday Harbor owned by the County. This harbor is FULL of lake weed and the problem is that boats going out of the harbor drag the weed on their rudders, keels and propellers. I have seen weed caught on the bunkers of trailers with the boat trapping it in place. This leaves the weed to travel to another lake when it is launched. Nice Harbor has LARGE patches of weed in front of the entrance and is so thick that it stalls the engine. This is a real problem as with a good wind you could get pushed on to the shore or into another boat trying to get out/in the harbor mouth. The County/State has been spraying the weed but they haven't been proactive enough in killing it earlier in the season so that it won't take over the harbor. They have killed it in the harbor but not just outside the mouth where it gets dragged back in to re-infest the harbor. My wife and I have had just this problem happen to us on Sunday, July 5th. We had to cancel our sailing trip much to our guests disappointment and had to spend much time trying to get about 20 pounds of weed off our outboard motor/rudder. We are paying the County $60 a month for a space in the Harbor and feel they need to make it usable to ALL boaters and to keep it and the mouth clean so that the boats won't transfer weed to the rest of the lake. This County should be more active in weed abatement due to the money coming in from tourism and the locals. We no longer feel safe in taking our boat in and out of the Harbor until the weed has been eliminated.

We have been fighting it as well in Lakeport. Boats getting stuck, overheating, clogged props. |
