West Palm Beach authorities still don't know how a boy was left in a hot car as his mother did her nails hours before her wedding.

I'm sick of this. Leaving a child in a car should be a felony. Maybe then these stupid breeders will stop doing it.

By the way, if you want to kill your child the best way is to "accidentally" leave them to boil alive in the car. If Duckett knew that she wouldn't have had to kill herself.
You might serve a year or two in prison but after that you are scotch-free.

Didn't know the child was in the car?
How self absorbed can one be?
The penalty must be higher for these irresponsible parents.

Self absorbency and stupidity aren't confined to any particular ethnicity.
I do have to question however what percentage of these kids who are killed in bathtubs and locked cars in the summer are legitimate lapses in attention and what percentage are clever homicides. I am beginning to believe many are exploiting a loophole in public opinion which always seem to believe the parent "simply made a mistake" rather than treating it as a possible crime.

Last year, wee saw police break a window open to get out a child in a hot, locked car. She had gone to lunch with a friend. I think a few of us had a mob mentality about what we felt like doing to the mom. I wish we would have been more vocal and taken action. Leaving a child in a car is pathetic!

We had a story somewhat like this here in the DC area recently; only it was a father who left his child in the car ALL day when he went to work and forgot to leave the kid at daycare. I mean, we're not talking forgetting car keys, we're talking leaving children in the car! On a hot day, the temperature in that car can climb very rapidly. And let me tell you, these poor children died very painful, ugly deaths. "Orlando Atheist," I agree with you, leaving the kids in the cars, ESPECIALLY if it's done on purpose, should be a felony. Now I'm waiting to see the posts from people who'll say that we all make mistakes, this could happen to anyone, the poor mother is suffering enough and shouldn't be punished, and blah, blah.

We had a case here in NC in which the mothr locked her son in the trunk of the car for 10 hours while she worked in a nursing home. The child literally baked to death. A jury acquitted the "mother" after her attornies argued that it was the state's fault for not providing free child care. She had to keep her son in the trunk because we as a society failed her as a parent !!! So much for accountability and self-responsibility !!!

Seriously, how do you drop your kids off at someones house and not notice that one isn't there? How does the person you're dropping them off with not notice?

I would be curious to know how many kids she has.

You have to fill out a 3 page application and go through a short background check to adopt a pet from the pound, but any moron can pop out a kid. Rediculous.

The phrase is 'scott (or scot) free', not scotch.

According to everyone involved in this case, mom and her sister met a family friend and had removed all of the children from the car to go with the friend. Apparently, the little guy wanted to go with mom and, without anyone noticing, he climbed into the back of mom's Expedition and hid. That is why mom had no idea he was in the car. The family friend assumed that mom decided to take the little one with her and raised no red flags. There is a lot of room for Monday morning quarterbacking but that isn't going to restore peace to this family over their loss. Just remember, "There, but for the Grace of God, go I".....

This is indeed I sad story. I'm not going to condemn this woman. This seems like an unfortunate accident. She dropped other kids off and probably didn't know the child was in the car. Let's keep in mind this was her wedding day. A woman has a million and one things on her mind on her wedding day.
It really doesn't matter what punishment they throw at this woman. She will live the rest of her life knowing that she was apart her OWN son's death.

WHAT?!? If she was that hard up, she could have brought the child inside with her and had him sit behind a desk or something. What the heck did she think was going to happen when she put her child in the trunk? And it is all the states fault for not providing free daycare? Give me a break. I can't believe she got off. Sick.

People need to "Walk a mile" before they make a comment. In my opinion, there should have been a positive coordination with the sitter and the mother on each and every child. Anything less is negligence. That said, I can see where a little guy might "sneak" back into the vehicle, and secret himself away so that Mom didn't see him, because he knew he shouldn't be there. This is a BIG vehicle and Mom was certainly preoccupied. My condolences to the entire family for their loss. As for the rest of you: Judge not that ye be not judged.

She will get off. The court will say losing her child is punishment enough. The same thing happen to the woman that worked for one of the governments in Central Florida. I believe it was Oviedo. She killed her child too. Came out for lunch and realized she left the child to bake to death.

Some parents do not deserve to have children.
