No carpetbagging here: Letters for June 15, 2009

Full story: LA Daily News

Re "Week in review" : As a resident of Valley Glen, I take issue with you using a broad brush to paint my Assemblyman Paul Krekorian as a carpetbagger should he run to be my City Councilman.

Valley Glen? Don't you mean Van Nuys? Oh, I forgot, white folk don't want to be associated with all those nasty minorities. Nope, can't have that. What a bunch of loosers.

Climate change bill needed

We must do a better job in recognizing the impact of climate change on people in the poorest countries.
The International Panel on Climate Change estimates that if left unchecked, climate change may cause acute water shortages for up to three billion people, increase hunger for 30 million people, expand exposure to malaria for up to 60 million more Africans, and increase heat-related premature deaths even here in the U.S.

The poorest one billion people are responsible for producing just three percent of greenhouse gas emissions. Yet, they bear the brunt of global climate change's impact and have the fewest resources to deal with its consequences.

I pray that the California Congressional delegation shapes the final climate change legislation that embodies what is needed, just and fair.

Hey, Carol......Wake up!

It's happening right here in this failed social experiment called California.

I don't care where you served previously. The city needs to lengthen the time a person lives in the district they want to represent before they stand for city council. All we now have is a game of musical chairs with the same names appearing on the ballot in different positions from different locations.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Aquarius

Money is a source of friction between you and friends now, so treat it with caution and respect. There could be a disagreement between you and a chum about a possession or a debt that one of you owes the other. If you're trying to organize a forthcoming social event, you could come unstuck when working out how much it's all going to cost because it might be far too expensive.
