I have been in hundreds of gay and straight bars where women have always danced together without incident. Now you tell me that there isn't more involved here beside lack of wisdom in doing whatever they were doing to taunt those stupid people who did decide to attack her. This could also be a typical butch fight between the girls also! So, don't dilute the seriousness by screaming "hate" crimes. It's fast becoming a last resort when there isn't much grounds to really fight!
What "more" could be involved here that would justify what happened, ahole?

This is why we need hate crimes laws: offenders were still on the scene when cops arrived,*yet none were arrested*

Are you kidding me?

Women were attacked. They can point at their attackers, and the cops don't bring them in??

Charge the cops with apathy crimes.

Maybe the cops were late for their nightly sting operation at the local public bathrooms.

This is just more reason for gays to arm themselves and take these scumbags out of the gene pool.

And no, there doesn't have to be anything more to the story other than the women dancing together. I'm looking forward to a spate fo legal suits here--discrimination suits against the bar, civil suits against the attackers, and a suit against the city for not following up on its obligation to protect ALL people in its confines, not just the straight ones. They could bankrupt this little POS burg.

I to have been in the same situation with beatings at 2 bars I use to attend back in the early 90's. I no longer put myself in that type of discrimition at any level. It's hard now because I to live in Hickville & there is nowhere that gay people can attend & not being attacked because of their sexuality. What happened to this woman is horrible & my heart goes out to her at this time of need. You must really must be careful these days for being youself & for being gay & putting yourself in that type of situation.

I have lived in this town my whole life. If you ever saw Partners you would probably vomit, yourself. Anyone who knows anything about the place knows it's where the failures of this world go to drink themselves to death- obviously not soon enough. What is even sadder is that I probably know the people who did this and they are undoubtedly the same losers who have been dicking around getting high in their Mom's basements for the last 40 years chasing after the 17 year old girls that dump lets in. The joint should have been closed a long time ago. And although those sad excuses for police academy drop-outs that responded are retarded (they know who they are) they probably didn't know how to handle something like this as it never happens here in Sea Cliff. The good name of my town has been marred. This is a sad sad day.

Oh who the hell knows exactly. Could have been anyone of that cracker-jack bunch. But i'll bet you that if you were to go to Partners right now, they'd already be in there getting started on their buzz.

I'm guessing this is how it probably went down:

1)local bar patrons scream anti-gay slurs at dancing lesbians
2)lesbians scream back
3)screaming excalates on both sides
4)lesbians start filming with camera
5)both parties evicted by bar staff
6)fistfight ensues outside
7)camera stollen by local bar patron

Same-sex dancing is not a crime and I've heard nothing about any leud conduct. The locals should have minded their own business and kept their homophobia to themselves. And, the police department needs some serious sensitivity training. This was a hate-biased attack.

what century are we living in? i mean c'mon, are these people for real? Probably over half of NYC is gay. With everything else going on in the world today people still have to act like back woods hicks with no compassion, hospitality, consideration, understanding? Those people who battered and stole regardless of their lame reasoning should be put behind bars with the other apes that do not know how to function in society. Newsflash bashers, everyone's not like you, doesn't mean you have to beat them up, what are you in 2nd grade or something?

Your town's name could probably be redeemed if you all rally together, get the mayor involved, and have the bar shut down or publicly disassociate the town from those idiots who acted like cave people at that bar that night. God, what an embarrassment. Sorry your town's name is tainted, but do something about it.

I am a homosexual who grew up in neighboring Glen Head and went to school in Sea Cliff. Generally speaking, Sea Cliff is a loveley place known locally for its tolerent citizens, however many other residents represent the old guard of unsopisticated, underacheviers, who despite mediocrity, still have some influence over the community. In Sea Cliff, people of this sort tend to gravitate to one of its many dive bars, Partners being just one of them. As a homosexual I only feel comfortable in Sea Cliff because I know it well, I know who and what places to aviod, keep in mind this is 2007 and New York, these sort of things are supposed to be a thing of the past. I moved away from the area several years ago, and I have absolutley no desire to return, despite the great beauty of the community, a real shame.
