Well, I seem to be the only one adding to the threads around here. That's no fun. I enjoy jousting, joking and jockeying with you other guys and gals. But where is everybody since June 6? No movement, no moving moments, no emotion, no traffic. Threads have been cut and left dangling. How about getting in on this one.

This thread is for everybody, who wants to make a comment about anything, question whomever or whatever, praise or criticize what's going on in Sea Cliff.

My initial contribution is: Why is it taking so lonog for the bakery to open? Don't tell me it's not because of village bureaucracy.

Why is Arata's so quiet nowadays? Is it because of the owner's attitude toward his customers?

Why don't more local people patronize the Once Upon a Moose restaurant (breakfast and lunch weekdays, open till 9 Fridays and Saturdays)? New owners are great and the food is terrific and fresh and prepared by culinary trained chef.

Does everybody know about Roots Restaurant's Wednesday night music from 7 to 10:45? A good time is being had by all who have attended this delightful dalliance. Couples and singles both love it.

If you like chicken wings, visit Gallagher's Pub which serves them on Mondays from 8 to 10 p.m. at half-price (30 cents per wing) with Budweiser only $2. Try it, you'll like it.

At Partners, free food comes out on various nights by surprise and the generosity of owner Joy, a delight by herself. Billiards in the back room. Pleasant Musak all over. Beer, wine and drinks are ample, yet moderately priced.

Oops, I forgot perhaps the best deal in town: B.(for Barbara)Brown's Deli across from the firehouse. Cozy tables, great breakfast choices including Oatmeal, a nice variety of lunches, plus dinners on scheduled evenings. Friendly counterpersons make this a place worth visiting on a regular basis, as I do.

it's no fun without you riling me up about Urlick.
Everything above is stuff I have no issue with except Partner's - no one in their right mind should eat any food served in that vile pit.
The is a place to get drunk and vomit at.

Oh, and to beat up lesbians at.

That jerk Ron Collura who is the current and soon to be ex-owner of Arata's Delicatessen is such a rude condescending ba$tard to his customers... between his irritable attitude and outrageously high prices (common,$8 bucks for 1/4 lb chicken salad and 1/2 lb pasta salad!) it's no wonder he is going out of business. Good riddance!

Doc: Sorry, I haven't been in a jousting mood lately.
Resident: More and more people are having the same feeling about the Arata's Deli owner, who is losing thousands of dollars a month because of his attitude to customers and overcharging.
Cliffin: They started out sincerely at Arata's. But owner Ron Sr. is getting a bad rep. Wife Rachel is a doll for putting up with all this. The sons are okay but caught up in family protocol.

Having experienced both, B. Brown's Deli is better than Arata's. Come and find out why for yourself. You'll feel more at home to begin with. There is a naturally friendly atmosphere. The prices remain the same according to who (owner or sons) serves you.

As a Glen Cove resident I took your advise and tried B.Brown's Deli today. The place is a little small when crowded but the food was great. Large servings and everything was fresh. Only bad part was all the noise from the firehouse across the street. They had the truck doors open and were playing with a lot of new toys. For a Village that has nothing, they sure have a well stocked firehouse. Everything I saw was new. Thats where all the tax money goes, for their toys ! In Glen Cove we have a firehouse that is always looking for donations to buy this or that. They should go to Sea Cliff and join them with all their new trucks and toys.

By the way, B.Brown's was $2.37 cheaper than what I paid Arata's for the same thing last week. And I did not get as much.!

Looking: Thank you for the commendation on B. Brown's. Yes, the difference in price at Arata's is substantial if you try eating breakfast and/or lunch every day. I'm sold on B. Brown's. Barbara and her staff are very personable and the customer is always right, unlike Arata's, which tosses people out every day for no good reason. I was one of the 'victims' recently after doing so much for doing so much for owner Ron Collura Sr. in the way of the getting his tables and chairs back. It's the best thing that happened to me, however, because that is HOW I discovered B. Brown's. I love it there even there is only five tables, which you CAN share with other nice customers if you have to. See you there!

Where is everybody? That thread was necessary because contributions were so meager, deficient in both quality and quantity. We're talking scant, skimpy, spare, sparse and just plain exiguous.

Looking over the list of offerings, it seems that News Hound has monopolized the board. Let's change that. Let's have some new blood (figuratively speaking, of course)and a brand-new variety of subjects if necessary.

Wake up and smell the proses!

Ron Collura deserves everything he gets! I've heard a lot dirt on him and his family. Rach is a doll and I don't know why she puts up with his BS! I call for a boycott of Aratas! Let's take back our town! Ron needs to stay on the South Shore where he belongs!

Sounds like B. Brown's is where the former McCarthy's Deli was. I always preferred McCarthy's to Arata's. I'll have to check out B.Browns. Do they do breakfast?-Quee

Wow, we have a movement going here: From Arata's to B. Brown's Deli. Cheaper prices that don't change when Ron Sr. is on the register. Prices that go up from $1.75 to $1.95 for a large coffee for no apparent good reason except a poorly timed case of greediness. The new faces in B. Brown's? They're all former Arata's customers. Rachel is the only honest-to-goodness, the customer-is-always right person in the place.

Ana dear, what a question from Montana! Did you live in Sea Cliff? Well, when Mac of McCarthy's passed, son Tim took over and ran the business for many years. Then Tim decided to go into the food purveyor business and Barbara Brown took over. It's bustling and a lot of fun to eat there. See you on your next trip to Sea Cliff.

While we're at it, how about a comment on the threads which have taken over Sea Cliff Topix. Guys in prison, etc. from wherever have no place in a Sea Cliff forum. Who's running the show here? These other comments about people from other places belong in a separate space, aside from the things that Sea Cliff residents and neighbors wish to read about and write about. Whoever is in charge should come forward and change this trend ASAP!

Daily Horoscope for January 3

Gemini

You are in a dissatisfied mood, and are just spoiling for a fight today. However, be warned that this could backfire on you unpleasantly, especially if you take on superiors at work. At home, everyone is used to your behaviour and they generally make allowances for you, as they will today.
